Any update from the vet OP? I sure hope for the best for our pup.

Eldee, you're right--veterinarian salaries in Canada probably ARE among the highest of the professionals, because of the Canadian national health care system, so you and I have different frames of reference, hence my skepticism re your earlier statement. Truce.
So now we're back to Mervin. Gautam, hopefully the good doctor is seeing Mervin today and further progress can be made in getting him healthy!!

Hey Hexe:
I am hoping and praying for three things tonight. The first and foremost that Mervin gets better and can run and play and love and please his master for many many years.
The second is that our conversation on this thread will open some eyes and start some conversations about what we should feed our dogs to keep them healthy so they can run and play and love and please us for many many years.
And lastly, that maybe we might have helped someone who is at a desperate loss like I was when Maya was so sick, to discuss with their vet the possiblity of EPI.

Abby, the only thing I have progressed at in this thread is finally realizing you have about zero common sense. Your enzyme therapy is really doing wonders here isn’t it? Now that blood is appearing in the dogs feces the OP now has no choice but to take this dog to the vet. Good job, way to go, you’re superb advice is really starting to pay off now! I wonder what more wonderful advice you have to offer the OP. Keep going, hanging on the edge of my seat to hear more in fact.

Hi
I should thank everyone here for their concern regarding my dear "Mervin". I took it to the big city vet. The rectal temperature was 103.5. He gave a shot of Enfrofloxaxcin and Flunixin and diagnosed rectal bleeding due to fever. He asked me to shift to Eukanuba dry food. However, I am not going to shift as he gets kickbacks. Also I weighed him and Mervin is 27 kilos and is nine and half months old. He said there is no TLI facility.
Now my aim is to stop diarrhea and bleeding (Hematochezia).
I feed him 3 meals a day with Royal Canin GSD 24.
Each meal is 1 cup
I use creon 25 for each cup. Empty the capsule contents on the food and soak the food in water.
I also add Irish Cal 1 spoon for morning meal and evening meal
5 ml of Salmon oil for afternoon meal.
Below are some of the pictures of his stools. Hope no one is offended.

is it possible to feed him boiled chicken (no bones) and rice (1 part chicken to 3 parts rice) with a tablespoon of active culture yogurt added?
he may need something super east to digest for a few weeks until he heals up.
top dress with Panacur for 6 days......it settles the stomach and intestine lining, gets rid of any possible worms and giardia too.
his legs look stronger in the new photos.......that's good.
i had a puppy that couldn't eat wheat, oats, corn and especially barley. he would get poops like that and worse. i ended up feeding him boiled chicken and potatos for a month and he improved. he is now on a grain free kibble and doing very nicely.

is he a chewer, does he have toys or sticks that he chews into small pieces?
sometimes puppies can injest peices of plastic or wood and it can casue bowel irritation and runny poop with traces of blood. once they pass it, it clears up, but the irritation can get infected.
i'm just trying to consider all of the possibilities......
he was improving and then crashed, its been several weeks since he's been wormed and the can be reinfesting, or he could have eaten something that is bothering him, or he could have simply caught a virus as his immune system is most likely not recoved completely yet. and of course it could be something else......
keep a diary of exactly what he eats, his poops, his activity level, his moods......lets see if we can find some clues.
