There has only been one supposed Standard, Yet look at the difference in dogs.
A good start would be judging to the standard, and penalise any exaggerations,

All three organisations that form the "GSD PARTNERSHIP" - BAGSD & The GSD League & The GSD Breed Council, are Kennel Club Licensed Breed Clubs and in respect of the Breed Council a Kennel Club Approved Organisation.
The "GSD PARTNERSHIP" should consider ALL issues arising out of the Kennel Club Amendments to the GSD Breed Standard here in the United Kingdom, and decide to adopt the following, or a very similar policy:
"THE GSD PARTNERSHIP WILL URGENTLY EXPLORE ALL OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE FUTURE BENEFIT OF THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG, WITHIN THE UNITED KINGDOM, SEEKING INFORMATION AND SUPPORT FROM THE SV AND THE FCI AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS THAT MAY BE ABLE TO ASSIST IN OUR ENDEAVOURS."
Such a policy rules nothing out.

THE PARTNERSHIP will need time to explore ALL possibilities and seek all the support available out there.
Note my words: Such a policy rules nothing out.
I continue to be surprised by the naivety out there when it comes to dealing with important issues such as this.

The breed should be split into 3 all with their own specific breed standard.
English Alsatian/GSD/Working Line.
Separate Development would be in all 3 lines best interests.

IMO the KC should do a feasibility study by contacting all KC Registered Affix Breeders of GSD's (Alsatians) to ask them which (should the two be split) name / breed would they wish dogs of their breeding to be registered under. In the case of Imports, ALL must be registered under German Shepherds as that is what they are known as in every other Country in the world and they should remain as that regardless of who owns or imported it into the UK , as it's Breeder is the one who should decide the breed they bred not the owner and in every other corner of the Globe a German Shepherd goes by no other name.
For Current Registered Stock and those already concieved and awaiting birth
Then a census should be drawn up of all the GSD's & Alsatians currently registered. It is inevitable that at first there will be stock with parents from both sides, what breed catagory the offspring of that union is put into will depend upon their breeder. So in the beginning the fact we will have progeny with for example an Alsatian dam and G.S.D sire is inevitable and what breed the offspring of this union will be known as will be the decision of the breeder. However from there on in breed these offspring will be able to reproduce is that which they are known as themselves.
Obviously if this split idea was to go ahead there would have to be a 'Cut Off' date given whereby from that date onwards, NO animal registered as a GSD could be the parent of an Alsatian and visa versa.
This would once and for all stop all the bickering, slanging matches , slandering and inconsistancies between our two factions which lead to both confliction and confusion when it comes to judging. This would also further identify the amount of animals been bred to each seperate breed and in as much decide how many CC's should be alloted to each individual breed.
Thereby forever after we can go our seperate ways in peace for the wounds this constant warring between the extremists of both factions are far too deep to ever heal with any amount of licking. It now becomes apparent that in the case of Shepherdite v Alsatianist the phrase United we Stand - Divided we Fall no longer applies as now the opposite of Divided we Stand - United we Fall appears to be the case.
WHATEVER WE DECIDE TO DO IT MUST BE SOON WHILE WE STILL HAVE A BREED LEFT TO DO IT WITH. With the Breed Always First and Foremost in Mind.

a GSD should not look like a street dog, nor should it look like a wired wedge................
grow up and get over it
a GSD SHOULD be a BEAUTIFUL dog that is ABLE TO WORK!
PERIOD!
every registery should have the SAME DESCRIPTION AND PHOTOS AND GERMANY should be the the country that sets this standard..................................think about it!
Judges should be thrown out if they do not judge to the standard.
the rest is just silly!

Make no mistake; all GSD enthusiasts within the United Kingdom have a responsibility to do all in their power to protect our breed's future. We have hundreds of thousands of allies around the World. We should seek their fullest support. The GSD is a very popular GLOBAL BREED, and as such it certainly deserves a GLOBAL BREED STANDARD. At the very least, it should be remembered the UK is in Europe, and as a minimum we REQUIRE A EUROPEAN GSD BREED STANDARD. I am certain the SV in Germany, and the WUSV throughout Europe and the World, will offer their fullest support. The FCI, I feel sure, will find it very unsatisfactory and unacceptable to have INTERNATIONAL COMPETITORS within our breed, facing difficulties when exhibiting their GSD and contending with JUDGES who are JUDGING to DIFFERENT BREED STANDARDS for the same very popular breed, the GSD. The Kennel Club is NOT AN ISLAND UNTO ITSELF, although it may like to think so. There are many POWERFUL organisations out there that they NEED to co-operate with, especially the FCI.
