Ok, my turn...
I'm 34, MWF, chemical engineer, working in a chemical plant on the Ohio River making styrenic block copolymers. If you know what that means I feel sorry for you. I became a chemical engineer for the usual reasons... violent chemical reactions. I can mix metal salts to make a fire burn green, make Moutain Dew glow in the dark, and I know which common houshold chemicals can be mixed to produce deadly mustard gas or a violently flammable arsonist's dream. Oh yeah, and which common pH indicator to smear on the lip of your coffee mug to produce explosive diarhea.
I'm married (1st anniversary coming up Oct 21st) to a professional fire fighter, and got it right the second time. Both my husband and I work two full time jobs. We own a small town bicycle shop and it's a seven days a week affair.
When we're not busting our butts working, we love adventure sports. We live in West Virginia which is on outdoor paradise. We enjoy mountain biking, backpacking, skiing, snowshoeing, white water rafting.
Currently our only dog is a young female Malinois out of Ivan's male Turcodos. She is my "husband's" dog but until we get our bike shop running smoothly I am her "Mom". Over the winter we'll get the shop organized and be ready to hire an employee in the spring. At that point Hubby is going to have to take ownership of the demon dog that is his Mali, and I will cut myself loose from the bike shop enough to get my next GSD pup.
We have 3 cats, all rescues.... Jesse, Raven, and James. We have 5 snakes... a Redtail Boa, Snow Corn, Albino Kingsnake, Jungle Carpet Python, and our only venemous snake... a Madagascar Hognose.
I was born in raised in the steamy swamps of Louisiana, and moved to West Virginia 3 years ago after my divorce (the "young and stupid" starter marriage) for a fresh start. The closest SchH club is about 2.5 hours away, and one day I hope to find enough SchH enthusiansts in the Mid Ohio Valley to start a club closer to home.
This year I got plugged in the SchH USA magazine posse, and I've volunteered to be one of the section editors, GSD and USA history. I've had 3 articles published so far in the USA magazine and I hope to continue for years to come. I got tired of hearing people gripe about how "useless" the magazine was, so I decided to be part of the solution.
God bless y'all!
Yvette

WOW...this has been a very enlightening thread.
Many people from all sorts of backgrounds and walks of life. Very nice to make your acquaintance.
Isn't it something that all of us who have a little in common but, perhaps not a lot have the one thing bonding us all...the love for the beautiful, intelligent, love-worthy German Shepherd Dog.
Some posts surprised me, most I was close.
I believe there are many, many more who will not post and most of those are probably men. It's still very nice to learn a little about everyone out there. And, everyone's story is interesting!

"BabyEagle, I assume what you call the Thunderbird eagle is the Golden Eagle, because that's the only other eagle we have in N. America? They're very rare in the east here, but I have seen one. If the eagles are allowed to fly free, don't they fight with each other? I thought they were pretty territorial when nesting."
Well actually the Thunderbird is different in my eyes because it's way bigger than the Bald and Golden, the bald and golden are distinct with markings, the Thunderbird is solid color and about double the size of both Golden and Bald. That's just how I see it. Very aggressive. They kill for the game and let the others feed. The "Master of the Sky" so to speak. The Balds and Goldens don't mess with Thunderbird. They represent Freedom in the highest regard if you care to know what I think..
I've never seen a fight over airspace or territory. I do however see on many many occasions a coordinated flight pattern, so I can only assume they have collective communications in air with the Thunderbird ruling the roost.. They lay in the same nests every year, the babies for some reason barley make it to yearlings, I find them on the ground with no apparent injuries or trama... I can only believe it's due to the 3 Nucleur Power Plants within a 200 mile radius. I dunno. Maybe one every year get's lucky to join the family in the sky as an adult.

WOW... im a little late huh?...well, theres one fact about me, i tend to be late alot....my famaily really hates thats during thanksgiving...have to wait on me to eat...christmas...have to wait on me to open presents....
warning>>>im gonna end up babbling...
my real name is Juliann, but most people just call me julie....I also tend to find myself answering to , dummy,retard,dumbass...hey you....and termite..... I am 27 years old, 5'3, 105 lbs, long, tri colored hair...(my natural hair color is a mystery...but i will give ya a hint--it's strawberry blonde)...i still dont truly know my eye color...like my dad, the color always changes with my mood, sometimes blue, sometimes green...i guess the base color would be hazel....
after reading yalls post, i would say i have a pretty average boring life.....like many of you, i was also that kid that lived for animals, my first word was dog...my mom says i called everything a horse, didnt matter if it was a cow or a goat, i called it a horse....lol...i still resent my mom for never getting me a horse as a kid....i loved to rescue strays....the first rescue i can remember was also one of my biggest failures....I was prob 6 years old, a baby bird fell out of his nest so i put it on the car, right under the tree, hoping the mother would fly down and get it.....well, my dang dog jumped up there and ate it......i always had pets, if someone wanted tto get rid of something, much to my mothers dismay, they knew to bring it to me....at one time i remember having 21 dogs, result of 2 females having a litter at the same time...i was in heaven then....ive also had deer, goats<<(whole nother story!), rabbits,my dad kept pigs and chickens, turkeys.....pet turtles and sometimes a baby gator.....I have 5 brothers and 3 sisters....my oldest brother ive never met, my oldest sister died when she was seven, but i never met her, happened way before i was even thought of......my other older sister michelle lives in ohio, and my sister samantha..(who thinks shes my mother) lives right across the hwy from me....my brothers chuck and t.j. are what you call rambling men....you never know when they are gonna show up.....sadly, my brother steven died in a car accident 4 years ago...he was only 19 and had his drivers license 2 weeks....the baby of the family is luke, we all cant help but to be protective over him, i still think of him as a kid even tho he is having his own babies now>>his wife is preggy with #2!)
as a teenager, i was out-of-control (who is'nt?)....at 14 my best friend and I took her dads truck, in the middle of the night, and took off to flordia....we lasted a week before the cops caught us...we only had 11 dollars leftwhen they did, so we were happy we got caught, needed a ride home anyway....but that was a big turning point in my life i think....mom seperated me from all of my friends and eventually shipped me to my dads....where I met my now husband, who was a friend of my brothers....

I don't want to change the direction of this thread but I have to say that the Thunderbird is a Native American myth and does not exist. The myth is that it was a bird of prey that was so big that it could snatch a whale out of the water. It does not exist now, if it ever did. Some may call the Bald or the Golden Eagle by the name Thunderbird, but it is an incorrect name. The only Thunderbird that exists is made by the Ford Motor company.
I am familiar with this myth because of an interest in cryptozoology that I have. It all started with an interest in what is PROBABLY now an extinct animal (that allegedly is still "spotted" infrequently) called the Thylacine. It actually exitsted and there are videos of them. They are so cool. They were a "crossover" type of animal, something like a cross between a wolf and a big cat. Here is a web site that tells about them, has pics and video. They are so cool and MAY still exist in Australia. If you are not familiar with them and want to read and see some very cool and interesting stuff, check out this web site.

Gsdfanatic1964- I was thinking the very same thing. There were a few I was surprised about though; I was way off on a couple. lol Funny how we're all so different but yet very much the same in the way that the one thing we can't argue about or debate is the love for our 4 legged companions.

do right, i have a book on "the tasmanian tiger, the elusive thylacine" right next to me. its a little book i picked up in australia the last time i was there. my son and i enjoy occasional dips into the crypto pool. there is some talk about trying to clone them somewhere down the line, cuz they do have dna from diff sources. same talk about wooly mammoths. would be interesting, but where do you put wooly mammoths?
