4pack, very well said.

I think sometimes people also have reasons they cannot have their dogs living in their homes with them but, this does not mean they wouldn't want them to.  (i.e. renting or a husband/spouse that will not tolerate it.)  I love my dogs and would definitely have them in the house (not however, in my bed but, to each his/her own), however, I am currently renting (temporarily) and I also have a husband who swears no dog will live in the house...this does not mean I should not be able to have them in my life.  I just must make appropriate adjustments to ensure they are just as well taken care of and get all of the attention that they should and would if allowed in the house.  We are outdoors people anyway, so we spend very little time in the house as it is.  My dogs do everything with us, just not sleep or eat with us.

DRFNO, I am also Cherokee and Irish...boy are you in trouble!

(Hope the bracelet works!)

DRFNO-don't worry about it at all. It's actually pretty funny when you think about how this can happen. It's kinda like spitting on some one below you on the ferris wheel. Sometimes that sucker starts moving and the wrong sap gets a loogie to the face!  I'm just glad you understand it wasn't directed at you.

Take care and I hope things go well  for you tonight.

I used the example "they are only dogs" to illustrate the other end of the spectrum from those who dress up their dogs in clothing and push them around in carriages. I didn't say that anyone who keeps their dogs outside, or tied out, is a bad dog owner.

My ex-husband didn't think dogs belonged inside the  house either.

Blitzen,

Alas, I'm still trying to change my husband's mind and hoping he will not have to become an ex.  (A work in progress.)

by Blitzen on 17 July 2007 - 16:07

It didn't work with mine, the main reason he's an ex . He said- it's either the dogs and dog show or me .

Argh...not a smart man.  I'm hoping mine never decides to make me take a side.

Gsdfanatic and blitzen

my wife is the same way.  I can only have one in the house.  I cant complain too much. She does the cleaning.

What do you say the three of us 86 the spouses, get together and see if the dogs will get along?

by Blitzen on 17 July 2007 - 16:07

Don, the current Mr. Blitzen II wants to move on some acreage after he retires in 2 years so we can have some more GSD's and other animals. He likes the idea of getting a few rescues. We were going to buy a bigger RV and see the country with Blitz, but the price of gas has put that plan into limbo. I think I'd better stick with this one .

Don,

My husband would probably be glad someone took me off his hands!  He wouldn't miss the dogs and the loss of income since most of mine goes to my dogs anyway.  He would miss my cooking and cleaning though.
