Carlin

by Carlin on 20 November 2013 - 19:11

For all you fine outstanding Christians out there, in this article is a prime example of your BS,

Relax.

A fine, outstanding Christian doesn't behave like or condone such a thing.  Be careful your own reactionary prejudices don't find you in the seat of those you abhor.

I only have watched about 12 and half minutes so far. It isn't that this doctor died. He slipped into a coma from a rare attack of e-coli meningitis. It is his claim that he has proof that the cortex of his brain was "wiped out" and really gave him a "clean slate", as far as knowing who he was in that coma conscience state, as his own personality. His point is that nothing happens to us as "humans" without activity of our cortex. And since he now has a memory, he says he has an actual event experience. This is what is supposedly an impossibility to science.

I'll have to listen to the rest now while I boil water for the pasta....

Well Carlin I can tell you I won't be in that seat. I used to be a believer, read the Bible, went to church the whole 9 yards. First problem was I found as many hypocrites in the church than outside and I'm sorry I just can't go for that. And as I have said before I found the preaching threatening and I don't do well with threats. I wanted to jump up, as a child, and say well send me to that firey place. I was thinking about you when I wrote that as I do believe you are a true believer and I hated to lump such people as yourself and one of my best friends in this group. And basically I know it's not religion itself but the people. But it makes lots of people kind of loony--best nicest word I can think of. And they try to take off like they are the only ones sent to save the world. That's not the kind of saving I need. I don't know about the Christian God, but I know about my Creator and how he blesses me everyday.
Also it can't be just me that feels this way--lots of people learned long before me.
