Hi Debby,

mine would be in the male adult class as he doesnt have his IPOI yet.

Do you know if there is a free gaiting round in the open class? I know working class for sure, but never watched the open class.

Got lots of work to do to keep Mister from thinking he is in a weight pull competition...lol I think the bulldogs in our club giving him the wrong impression!

LMAO, wow did you just say a mouthfull!
It's not the Itditarod, but try telling THAT to the
*&+!@#%$ dogs

Arrgh....I screwed up. Just re-read the rules on the WDA website and there are no show ratings awarded in the open class, just placings. So not really a point of entering there. I dont think I will be able to trial before the show :(

Workingdogz.... aint you right! mine is pulling like a darn draft horse!

Do you think anyone at the show would mind if I brought my SECRET WEAPON out for the exam portion of the show???  My female gets hypnotized by my cat.  We can pull the cat out of his kennel right before the exam, bait the female with the cat, and put him away when the judge is done the exam.  The female wont even know the judge was there.  What do you think?

Elkoor, maybe you could just add some sandbags to your pants?
It will weigh you down, thus slow him down.
I'd also make a concrete leash & weighted collar

Or, just start making him listen

I believe a few years back someone did just that.
They had a cat in a crate or something on the sidelines?
I just vaguely remember the rumblings about it.

It really is a show all by itself to watch the double handling
I get more amusement out of watching THAT!
I will admit it, I am deeply impressed by those double handlers
that can take a tumble and get right back up and keep going
like nothing happened-thats totally bad ass!

Do you think people would rumble if she was the only dog in the class? No, no, dont answer, I'd rather not have that reputation.  Now I must actually put work into getting her ready to be examined laugh.  The cat will be disappointed he cant come play mind games on the dogs.

Elkoor, you could always enter your dogs as practice for when it really counts!  (hint hint, you should just come anyways, and bring your dogs)

Elkoor, what is this "free gaiting" you speak of in the working class?

by workingdogz on 31 January 2012 - 23:01

Elkoor is probably referring to the off leash gaiting?
Thats when you see some good wipeouts

Just remember to "tuck and roll", you'll be fine

Yes, its one round off lead healing in running as fast as you can mode....LOL The dog is to trott though! Its one by one...not all dogs at once. The judge wants to see a free gaiting without the dog "falling" or pulling into the leash. This can change your rating for the better!

I'd imagine the owner does this part?  Or else mine are going to make a bee line right for me.
