Xeph

I like the dog in the photos but personally prefer the first photo.  In the second I just see a dog that looks like he just got bathed and blow dried and that's not how a GSDs coat EVER looks in real life unless the dog HAS just been bathed and blow dried, lol.
I always try to take pictures of my dogs after a bath and blow out.  No cow licks, looks nicer.  But guess what?  The dog has just been bathed and blow dried in the FIRST picture!  The second picture was taken two days POST bath!  That's why it's such a great "then and now" picture.  It shows how well I conditioned his coat up, as well as the dog.  If you look at his rear and chest, he put on a decent bit of muscle tone as well as his coat being in much better shape.

Surprise!

This is the kind of work we put into the animals we take on :)

VKGSD's, to be honest, if my ASL would not have been finished when I got her, I wouldn't have made much of an effort to do it. She a nice enough dog, deserving of that title, but in 40+ years I've seen so much politics in both the AKC and the SV ring that the entire process holds no attraction for me anymore. At one time I enjoyed showing my own dogs, but I'm so over it. I like to do other things with my dogs now.

Blitzen, I know exactly what you're saying.  My little bitch has not a single point on her.  She's two and a half, and several people "in the know" have told me she should be finished, and it makes no sense why she's not.

People agree that it's not my handling that is the problem.  I have had several top handlers/conditioners (including Sheree Moses) tell met hat I do an excellent job exhibiting.  I have gotten the nod for client dogs I am showing (dogs AND bitches), but nobody has given it to Mirada.

If I put her out there with a "face", she'd be done in a couple of weekends....and I'd know it was because of the face, rather than because of my dog, which bothers me.

I still show in conformation for reasons very personal to me, but I'd be lying if I said there weren't times I just wanted to give up.  At the end of the day, I always come back to it.

This kind of movement is perfectly acceptable in the AKC all breed ring

Xeph, would you take a look at the still photos of movement here: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/picturegallery/39727.html and also same dog, different gallery under NASS 2011 and tell me if that is the type of movement you are describing? When I the show you are referring to in PA and what type of show is it? Thanks! Theresa

Sheesh, to be honest with you, those photos don't really show anything.  The angles are all off, and they're basically of the dog coming at you.  His type looks really nice, though.

When I the show you are referring to in PA and what type of show is it?
The show I'm talking about is a benched all breed show in Philadelphia (Oaks), PA.  It is at the end of November.  This is the show that airs after the Thanksgiving Day Parade every year :)

Hey thanks for looking. :-)

No problem :)  He's a beautiful dog, I just can't tell anything about movement from the pictures that were shared.  If you get any video of him, please let me know.
