THANK YOU SO MUCH BOB!!!!
See, I just learned something-didn't realize I could do serpentines with my pup. I'll start those with her today. Maybe that'll slow down my older female too..

Oh! I have checked for clubs, but we have a trial size field, all set up with wooden blinds, outdoor lighting, tracking fields and would really like to bring a good Sch/trainer to us. We'd love it if we could get our old trainer back-you know who you are;) We have about 5 dogs we'd love to get BHs on in the next couple of months b/c there are a ton of local trials coming up.

in our club we have even started articles as young as 10 weeks old. by 6 months old the dogs are doing the articles very consitently and very correctly. we found that it was just easier then trying to teach a older to stop when all of his foundation training told him to just keep going. i like the serpentines along with tons of corners for young dogs also.

Cole, you have seen puppy tracks laid many times. You know what the PSA guy is doing is incorrect.Baby step your way from scent pad in straight lines until you have good concentration as you add length.Start rounding corners as half moons to the left or to the right.Take your time. You have plenty of time to work corners and a long time before articles.Call me and we can discuss getting up to your field with our club to train .

THANKS JAY--I'd love to have you guys out at the fields. Rebecca, Travis and I are wanting to do purely Schutzhund, except for one of Rebeccas dogs.

Colehaus,
Go to www.schutzhundvillage.com and check out the training articles. Read 'Only the Nose Knows I & II'.
I do both SchH and SAR and what you described doing in the OP sounds like a random mixture of SchH Tracking & SAR work.
The articles referenced above will give you a foundation for training SchH Tracking, from a SchH perspective. Using these methods, you can also advance to SAR Tracking/Trailing or even Air-Scent.
