A. Does the deployed owner WANT the dog to be sold?  Or could the dog go to one of the programs which match up volunteers who are willing to foster with pets from deployed servicepersons?

B. Has the seller considered contacting the breeder?

From the paperwork you just posted, the father of the dog being sold is half AKC conformation champion lines and half European showlines; the first pedigree, with the Covy-Tucker Hill dogs in it, is for the paternal grandfather of the dog being sold, and the second pedigree with the European showline dogs is for the craigslist dog's paternal grandmother. Combining this info with the pedigree for Buffy v Neimeyer, the mother of the dog being sold, it would make this dog 3/4 Euro showline breeding and 1/4 AKC showline breeding.  It could be a very nice combination, or it could be a train wreck as far as temperament, health and conformation goes...would have to see the dog in real life to make any determination.

The deployed owner is fully aware of the dog being sold by his mom.  There is no interest in a fostering (I asked).  I suggested the mom contact the breeder.  She said she would, we'll see.

This dog just jumped at me.  Not so much the heart strings (plenty of that on Craig's List), but the "this sounds like a great dog, with lots of GSD sporting potential."   I know he is way too much for me, but for many of you on here, he might be the best.

I am going to try to go see him this weekend.  If any of you are interested, send me a PM for things to look for and test.

Whoa--whoa--the thread title says this dog is 15 months of age, but the ad says he's 15 WEEKS--BIGGGGG difference.  Given that there are pictures of a puppy AND pictures of an adult dog, can't tell which age is correct--is the adult dog the 'daddy' the ad speaks of, or is the dog being sold actually only 15 WEEKS old?

My mistake.  Can an admin please correct my thread title to be 15 weeks?

He stands a much better chance of getting a decent new owner as a 15 week old pup, at least. It's a shame it has to that way, but there are more people looking for a puppy than for an adolescent...figuring they don't want someone else's problem dog [which is usually not the case, there's usually nothing wrong with the adolescent dog at all].

There's some interesting genetics in those pedigrees! And 15 weeks old...wow, if I didn't have 3 dogs already, I'd consider him!

I already HAVE an American/German showline cross, and she's a wonderful dog! But yeah, the conformation can wind up being a bit of a train wreck, if the pup inherits the worst features of both parents. She's definitely got a softer temperament than is ideal for IPO or schutzhund, but since she's also a house dog and a service dog, that works out okay for me! She did pass her temperament test with flying colours (wanted to get behind the blind to see where the gunshots were coming from - lol!) and has great ball drive.

Thanks admin.

I can go check the pup out for someone this weekend, as I am close to Longview.   PM me today.
