just starting out in the USA and he goes to a friend of mine. She is
a Older German lady who is well known for her bad temper.
But she knows dogs,( GSD's) very well. He ask her to import
a dog from Germany that only she could do. The dog was a
great dog and he won everything with it. But he himself really
did not have a clue how to train dogs. But everybody thought he
did and went to his training club to learn. It wasn't until years
later that he started winning again after attending every clinic he
could. During the time he was teaching other people how to train their dog, he did
not know what he was doing. He was mean, rude, and self centered.
Mike and Ivan are not at all like this guy. They have worked very hard
to gain the confidence, as trainers. If I am right about Mike, that he is a
very good trianer time will tell. And in fact I think I could say he already is, because
his methods are fundamentally sound and he is a very good teacher. Do not fault
Mike in any way please. Mike will never have to explain himself to any one. People
already know he is a good trainer.

I didn't think the e-collar was a horrible thing, though like any other training tool it can be abused. I just wondered why everyone uses them, and what they did before the collars were made.
Thanks again, and I didn't mean to carry this thread OT like I did...Just struck me curious, and I had to ask.

The case study is true, the guy ( not Mike or Ivan) was on the podium many times with
a dog Margot had brought over here. Yet he was not a trainer.
Just like a trainer is not a breeder. It was hard for Ivan, he did
not win his first second or third time out. I think when he finally did
win it was one of the biggest brake throughs for the Malinois people. He
Also went outside his bloodline. But you are right Wrestleman about
his IPO world wide and some of his dogs have done very well.
I don't think anyone has achieved more for the Malinois in the USA
than Ivan.
