Stacy
You would never get your hand close enough to give Zasko a pat he will not have it, Or will his Son i have Goran he will not be touched by anyone including Rinus, He does not bite or make a sound he just backs of a stride and stares at the person as if to say i dare you
One day we had two fanciers in the Garden i let Goran out whist we were there and he was fine i said do do touch him and all will be okay
anyway my brother took one fancier into the pigeon loft to see the pigeons and i said to the other one i would go and get some Beers So i left him standing there with Goran in the Garden
I came out and nothing was said
They left,  a day or so later the one left in the Garden phoned me he said Your Dog when you went indoors to get the beers and left me on my own the Dog came up to me and he caught hold of my wrist i could feel his teeth but he did not bite he never growled or anything just caught hold of my wrist in his mouth, He held on until you opened the door and he let my wrist go and walked away, He said i went ridged no way was i going to try and take my hand away
I said why did you not say at the time, he said i was still thinking about what the dog did, he said i have never come across that before, We had a laugh about it but i guess Goran knew he was there on his own and thought you are not going no where, He may look a soft Dog in his Pic but he is not so daft i think

Steve,
That's very interesting what you say about Zasko and Goran. Was Goran like this as a puppy? Ike doesn't not like to be held. He struggles mightily. In fact, I made a video of this last month for my friends to see.

www.youtube.com/watch

But he loves people and does not stand apart from them. Actually, he throws himself at them (if they are not holding him). It doesn't matter if the person is man or woman, big or small (and we have a few police officers at our training club and these guys are BIG). He's social but, I guess, on his own terms.

I've heard stories about Zasko and how he's a one person dog and  how much he loves Rinus. I wonder if Ike's manner will be more like his father and Goran as he gets older. More distant, more aloof.

Stacy,
Don't worry about the mistakes. I make so many with Ike every day that I've lost count. The one rule I try to follow is - if I don't know how to train something with Ike, I just don't do it  (like rag work and back-tied frustration work) and I wait until someone more experience can either show me or help me. Besides, sometimes these pups surprise you with how much they know already (or maybe it's what's already in their DNA). Last week we were running a track and we came to a corner and I thought the track went left and Ike insisted the track went right. Guess who was right ...

Thank you Denise!! <3

Jason, I had spoken to Steve before deciding to buy Indi. She is exactly what I wanted. I wanted a stand off dog especially toward strangers, however one with a clear head who won't out right attack a stranger, unprovoked. Steve told me that this is exactly how Zasko is. Also the breeder told me even he does not mess with him at feeding time. In my personal opinion this is fine. I don't feel there is any reason for bothering a dog when it is relaxing and eating or enjoying a bone.. The way I see it.. How would you like it if someone started taking you food away? I feel there is no need to "prove" to your dog that YOU are the owner of the food. People may disagree with me, and that is their right.
Indi is fed in her kennel as are my other dogs, and she does not want to be bothered while she eats. That is the one time that is HER time... She does not growl at me and I don't try to take her food from her.
You already know that I LOVE that video of Obnoxious Ike :-)

Steve, What you told me about Goran is exactly how I expect Indi to behave. I cannot obviously tolerate for her to "go after" someone but I also don't want her to be simpering and cowering for attention to any stranger who approaches her. I already have 2 who are friendly enough towards strangers.

Also Steve, Please check your emails soon. I have something to tell you

Stacy,
She is gorgeous.  Wow you lucky girl.  She looks like a lot of fun to work.  You can see it in her intense stare.  She will be awesome on the field.
With the type of drive she has, you will soon realize how much easier they are to train..
Great pictures too..  I look forward to seeing pictures of her on the field..

Thanks guys!! Kim she is smart as anything!! I truly AM lucky. The breeder really wanted to keep a female and she was the only one out of 7 pups. She was also his favorite AND the one everyone picked out first when they came to visit. He could have easily told me "next time" but he kept his word and let me have her. Here are a couple pics of her clean :-)

I never notice this before but Indi has a pink name tag!

I've never seen the 2nd pic. She looks really strong and solid there! Like her idiot brother Ike she looks have to a somewhat blocky built. Her ears are much prettier than Ike, more proportionate. Coat looks great!

HEY you leave her pink name tag alone, you sound like Matt!
She also has a bright pink collar with another, bigger pink name tag with fake diamonds on it. That is her bling bling one though for when we go out. The leather one she is wearing is just her "house" collar.
Kinda like the holey sweatpants everyone has ;-) Mine are exceptionally holey thanks to her....
But everyone assumes she is a HE, so I got her pink.

She is a lot smaller than Ike but she is SOLID. Every time I tell you she gained 3 pounds, you say Ike gained six...
And she figured out the stairs. She could always get up but was afraid to go back down. Last night she followed me up to tuck the baby into bed and she sat right night to the bed like a proper lady and waited for me, then followed me down the stairs like she'd been doing it all her life LOL She used to just stand there and cry and I'd have to carry her down.

I love her ears too. They have been standing since she was probably 4 or 5 weeks old. I remember hers were one of the first to come up. I expect since she's going to start teething soon they may flop a little but they are pretty small compared to some GSD ears so it shouldn't be too bad.. Ahh well enough bragging for now. I have more bragging to do on another post later ;-)

And it's heart shape too!!!!

It's true there have been weeks when Ike would gain 6 lbs in 5 or 6 days, but I think most of the weight  went straight to his beer gut and jumbo butt.

Yes it's heart shaped... Tell ya what...I will go get her another tag today. Then you and Mattcan both be satisfied ;-)

Indi is very proportionate. When you see her in pictures she looks big but it's just the pictures. I know I keep talking like I want her to be huge, but I don't.. I just don't want her to be too small like Galan. He is between 60 and 65 pounds. Small for a male but he is FAST!!! He has caught my TD off guard at nearly every training ;-)
