I personally believe that allergies are immune related and there is no way to tell just what these people have done support the dogs immune system. The pred is an immune killer. You didnt mention what the food was they were feeding. What is the vaccine schedule they have the dog on? What testing have they specifially done to test for allergies or are they just taking a vets word for it and someone suggested to them to request a refund? Many questions not enough answers.

Before I would consider making any offer, I would request the vet records and see just what is going on. I never take what the owner says unless I have gotten to know the person. It doesnt sound like you kept in contact either and had you done so, perhaps this may have been prevented.

God we could warranty forever and for some it still wouldnt be enough. If your worried about the future of the dog then take her/him back and refund the money. Unless you specifically have that written in your contract,  I wouldnt worry about it (ie judgement). I dont think that they people should get to keep the dog and they may end up selling the dog to some other unsuspecting person trying to recoup their investment. Had they really wanted to keep the dog, then they would have contacted you in the very beginning and worked with you to try and resolve these issues not wait until they are months into it then point fingers. Like it was mentioned before, pups are a crap shot. Its the deal someone gets to pay less.
