Pharaoh

by Pharaoh on 16 February 2010 - 19:02

Mystere,

When I read your post, I was curious what was put on the film itself.  You said "Xrays are supposed to have the dog's name, and identifying information on the film."

So, I looked it up on the FAQ page at OFA. www.offa.org/faq.html#25

25.  What type of identification is required in the film emulsion of the radiograph?
Each radiograph submitted must have positive permanent identification within the film emulsion that ties the radiograph to the application. This should include at a minimum the animal's name and/or number, the name of the veterinarian or clinic, and the date of the radiograph. If this information is missing or is illegible, the radiograph and application will be returned to the vet without being processed.
I spoke to Dr Corely several times in 1994/1995 concerning my dog being injured by a PennHip "practitioner".  He was a really decent man and quite accessible.  He has been retired for some time now and Dr Keller is in charge now.

I spoke to Dr Keller when I got back an OFA Fair for Pharaoh.  I wanted to know if it was a split decision and what his personal evaluation was.  He pulled up the xray immediately and said that two of the panel had given him a fair, and one gave him a good.  He said the positioning was well done.  His personal evaluation was Fair but that it was between the two.  He said I might want to resubmit.  That it was very possible that with a different panel two might say good and one might say fair.  The reality is that Pharaoh's hips passed and he is in the grey area between Good and Fair.  I might resubmit, but it doesn't make much difference. If I ever bred him (not planning to) I would only breed to a female with good or excellent hips or not at all.

Michele
