Flat collar, or a harness, Steven, flat collar... Don't hold the dogs by their prong collars while agitating...

The crazy part of the video is that Steven's wife is no where to be found the dogs are suppose to protect her  & the family when he is away right, How is she going to learn how to turn them on & off if she is not working them. Has Steven & his over paid trainer thought of that yet.

If you can sell dogs for this price then more power to you. Only thing is that the prices fluctuate based on what vehicle the buyer is  driving. I guess,....that  is OK too,...... but somehow  it just rubes me the wrong way.

Since the tv show is about Steven being in law enforcement, my guess is that his wife and family only make limited appearances.  Having participated in a documentary with my family, it's amazing how much gets editted out even after a full day of filming.  But I do agree that the dogs, in order to be effective, need to view his wife with respect as well.

Who can know what kind of contract they have. He might be on call 24 hrs a day training as needed, for the life of the dog. Prager, you surely have a better idea than me or most, on how many hours a week, and how many weeks it should take to really leave the whole family feeling competent with these dogs. And I think he would want to like and trust somebody who will be spending much time as his employee in his own home. I would imagine it takes a special person and dog to command such a price, and not everyone could do it .Or maybe you would say, get away with it.

There is no straight answer to that question. It depends on how teachable, coordinated and dedicated the new owners are. If the dogs are totally trained and the new owners are 100% doing their part then I would say handler's course of  2 weeks of 2 times per day would be perfect and then 1x per week to set up scenarios of 2-5 takes per session would be optimal.

On the other hand some people will never master their dogs no matter how well trained they are. I have had dealings with some  wealthy people (not all of them) who for their money expect machines and do not understand that they are part of the team and need just as much work and training  as the dog have got and is getting.
Mr. Steven Seagal is a dedicated man of Martial arts which requires discipline and dedication. Having these dogs is, looks like, right up to his alley and thus   I would think that he eventually  will be an expert of handling and working with his dogs. I do not know about his other family members since I do not know anything about them.
The price for such service may go from $20- $350 + expenses if any, per 1 dog per maintenance visit and expenses if any. It depends on distance driven/flown to the client and the relationship with the client.  That is what I charge. Off course I am not John Whittaker. I do not charge more to celebrities and I have trained dogs for vice president of USA and top sports stars. They payed the same price for the same thing as I would charge to any working stiff in South Phoenix.

Please take the time to Read all of what I have wrote here .... Ok here is my thoughts on this .. CPI Protection dogs and Training  are a Joke , Nothing more than  sport dogs .every one of them I have seen have been trained useing french ring &  mondio ring  , Schutzhund sport training and by calling it by other names ,  to pas them off as REAL Protection dogs and real Protection dog training is such a load of crap... As  far as what I see  from the web site and also dealing with people who have bought dogs from them .. are things like this .. .. Wording like  ( The Basics of Protection followed by Advanced Fighting Skills Advanced Handler Protection Skills™ Aggressive Alert, Directed Alert, Covert Alert, Attack, Directed Attack, Secure, Covert Secure, Protective Escape, search of home and property, Release, Recall (stop attack after already being sent) and Turn Off.   http://protectiondogs.biz/training/level_3.shtml  All great sounding words to make it seam like the dog has alot of high end training , but the real side of this is most of them are just good to ok sport dogs that have been worked with for a few weeks with shock and tought some ring sport stuff .. nothing bad ass about the dogs or training ...

Ok here is what I see from the show .. Seagal said in of the video he ( has been training dogs for protection starting in his early teens ) Realy hmmm makes you think was he not studing marshal arts at this time ,,,, now he was training dogs for protection work at the same time , ? ) Then He said ( he has had working dogs for 20 years ) well that dont add up what one is it .. 20 years or his teens did he start working with protection dogs Also why would he buy a protection dog if he knows how to train them and knows what the price of them should be .....Also you see they helpers hands are open when doing muzzle work .. this is a big no no .. your fingers can get stuck in the muzzle also they was Doing Muzzle work with a Plastic Dog Muzzle from Ray Allen all that hard cold cash and they spent $24.95 each on two muzzle's for agitation muzzle work for one one that is dangerous and a 100% irresponsable to the dog , the owner , and helper , they could have bought a nice one from elite k9 for $69.95 ,They could have used a AGITATION COLLAR WITH HANDLE and not the pronks the way they did .. Also For the new dog to be as natsy as they are saying on the show why would you have a dog siting on your lap the first week of owning him ... ? You also see at 309 of the video that the helper is helping the trainer to take controle of the dogs . To me the dogs look like they was new to the muzzle and did not know how or understand how to stay dominant over the man , the helper did alot of roling around on the ground to make the dogs hit in prey , Just like this other video of them training .. I am posting some video of them training Now you tell me what you think .. SPORT DOGS OR REAL DOGS .. I also love how they promote walking dogs around with NO leash just a shocker on the dog .. I would never do that with a pet let alone a protection dog .. Also leting kids role all over the dogs ..

Here is what CPI has said About Steven's new dog ( the west German Show line Frankie ,
( It took us over a year to find a dog like Frankie( Frankie has explosive aggression, a “hair trigger” and is very much like a handgun with the hammer cocked back and ready at a moments notice
) ( This is the opposite of what the majority of our clients here at CPI are interested in purchasing. )

This is the opposite of what the majority of our clients here at CPI are interested in purchasing. )  That right there should tell you somthing about the kind of dogs and training he is selling .. I think his training and dogs are just ok .. Any good trainer could get a good dog to work like that ..  For a 7 min video .. and No bite work ???????

by K9GSD on 08 January 2010 - 03:01

One more thing .. as I could go on and on here about this and what I can stand about CPI and other trainers like them is the fact that they call this ( Highly Trained exclusive companion ) http://www.protectiondogs.com/index.html
Gentle as a lamb untill intrusted otherwise  , How about calling them what they are .. Working dogs liveing in your home .. working with you to protect you and your family .. Not the family pet that will be so lovey duby with all your kids and friends .. and then get the bad guy the next .. what a load of shit ... dont think I know what I am talking about .. I know of somone who bought a dog from CPI and they was told to let all of their friends pay with the dog and be his friend .. and he would still bite someone if you told him to .. well I can tell you in 3 months of haveing the dog the dog bite out of fear 5 people as he had no clue what was going on .. nor knew who was bad or good ..Read the website people .. If you have been training any kind of sport dogs .. you know that the stuff on their web site is a load of crap .. I am done .. said my peace ..-+
