As one of the helpers in our club, I know Stuka very well.  I've worked him in suit and sleeve.  Stuka (like his father) is a REAL GSD.  While someone noted that he is not a "point dog," he is the kind of dog that point dogs... and police dogs... and search and rescue dogs... and personal protection dogs... come from.

Stuka has strength, power, aggression (in prey and defense), and speed like very few dogs.  And he is quite social around the house.  If I owned a female, he is the type of dog I would breed to.  Just watch the videos of the pups he produces on Nate's website.  The only question is whether or not the female is worthy of breeding to Stuka.

Judron.... again, he is a good dog. I'd breed to him, if all else checks out, and it should.

I have had the pleasure of watching Stuka grow up from puppyhood to the dog he is today.  I have seen many of his puppies
and like ctfgsd said most of the puppies have intensity, focus, loyalty and I will add drive to their makeup.  Stuka is a serious
dog but quite sociable when "at ease".

Stuka has excellent drives, temperament and nerve.  Stuka is has very quick reflexes and is very fast.  I think people need to look at these qualities more.  For me these quickness and speed are so important for working.  Stuka is a very nice working dog.

I have watched Stuka work in several venues and what impresses me most is the combination of speed AND power.
At the AWDF last year I watched the helper catch dogs on the long bite without moving a step, but need to take 10 steps to keep Stuka from knocking him down - impressive and still the favorite dog of the helpers. He is social around everyone, with the ability to get REAL at any time. Stuka is big on heart and just plain NEVER quits.
As for not being a "point" dog, I believe that more points are matter of adapting one's training style to this type of dog. He has competed successfully in National Events and Nate could most likely tell you what to think about  as far as what to reinforce and what Stuka brings naturally for more precision. He is a willing dog, but also knows what he wants.
I know I will be keeping an eye on his future breeding's if the female can also impress me.

Things I do not like-Hhmmmm.......
  • Taking a long bite from him
  • Might be too much dog for some
  • Makes training too much fun and I won't want to go home

One of the great things about Stuka that i like is his father the one and only and the great Storm Front Bronson.Stuka is a true representation of his blood.Have a nice one.

I occassionally read some of the topics but rarely post anything. I felt compelled to post about this fantastic dog "Stuka vom Enckhausen". I might be a little bias because Nate is my friend and I am the breeder of Stuka. But think I have something relovent to this topic. Stuka was born in my office and came from my female Britta vom Timmelsjoch and my male Stormfront's Brawnson. I have watched Stuka grow and develop from day one and have been lucky enough to be part of a lot of his training and trialing. Stuka is what true working line breeders should strive to produce. A handsome and powerful dog with strong drives and the abilty to cope under stress. I read the comments about speed, agile, hard grips, fast long bite, high prey, defense and socialablity but nothing about the most importand drive he has.... FIGHT DRIVE! The dog has incredible fight drive. This is the missing drive in all show line dogs and a lot of our working line dogs. With out fight drive, we have no police dogs, we have no military dogs, we have no protection dogs and we have no true working dogs. A dog with out fight drive is a paper Tiger, its useless. Working line breeders need to seek out and breed to dogs that have fight drive to save our working dogs. Stuka is one of those dogs.

I am a Indianapolis Metro Police K9 Officer. I've been a K9 officer since 1985.  I feel like I know what it takes to work the street and to take care of business on the street. Stuka can ride in my back seat any night!!!

Yours in the work
