You pasted the section for the pedigree, I pasted the one for registration.  Either way will work but the AKC does not mention the fact that registration and pedigree are commonly the same thing.  FYI in the future, send a copy.

DNA is only necessary if you are going to breed an imported dog.

oh good I'm glad you guys are saying this I have to send Eli's papers to AKC I really wasn't thinking I trusted them with the original?

if you buy an imported puppy, is dna still required for AKC registration?

Call AKC and check on your papers.

DNA is only required when trying to breed imported dogs so, if you never intend to breed your puppy you will not need it.

I have called, they couldn't tell me who was even processig them'

Maybe they have an influx of mixed breed dogs that they're registering right now??

Yes I was trying to call them too because I wasn't sure if you had to send the original papers from their loose wording on that application,I certainly did not want to.but every time I called the Foreign Reg Lady was ''away from her desk'' doing God knows what!! ,luckily I saw this thread now I will only send a copy

AKC told me to send color copies..not original papers for all my Imported GSD's...
I had to send in DNA with my paper work also..When I called they mailed me out DNA kits and I paid after I sent them in with paper work..I had to do DNA just to get AKC papers for all my Imports..

I just recieved the origionals back, but nothing else???

I guess someone got my e-mail, now I can make copies and at least get some kind of score book for the upcoming trial.

When they finish processing the registration, the AKC send a certificate?
