I hate it when "people" ask me what my black GSD's are mixed with.... lab right? NOT. I try to explain that it is due to recessive genes and no, it's not "rare".
On another note, I had a vet tech write down blue and tan on a very sable, not anywhere close to blue GSD.
Grrrrrr!!!!

How about this one! My Sable female service dog is usually confused as a Mal.
She weighs #64 and in shape, even other K9 handlers ask the same question. When I tell the she is a GSD they comment on how small she is. Hey, shey should see her work.

Too funny Tuff, my service dog Mal has been called a shaved shepherd by some in the stores and because of her size they think she is a he because all service dogs are only male I have been told.

Oh, heaven forbid I bring my little Mali anywhere... there's a whole 'nother story! A Belgian what?? Malomar... Malamute... Maliwhat? Ha ha ha. And she's a tiny girl at that, maybe #40 of solid muscle. Man you should see her thighs. I'll have to post pics. Looks like a muscle bound steroid dog. I feed her more and the only weight she gains is in muscle.
I'm asked frequently if my bitches are puppies, weighing in respectively at #56, #63 and #68.
Ahhh... we need to educate the general public just a hare more... at the same time, let them have their b&t am dogs, I'll keep my working dogs all to myself. I don't like to share much anyways.

I once had a buyer try to return a sable pup because their vet had said it was not a pure bred GSD......

Oh, oso-bear, I think that story tops them all!! It's a sable- bring it back!!! Oh, LOL.
I was channel surfing and came upon Animal Planet for all of a few seconds- just enough time to watch a "dog trainer" teaching basic obedience to a new dog at the humane society or a rescue... she was amazed because the dog was getting her commands so quickly- "more quick to learn than any other dog I have seen" she said. I felt like throwing my slipper at the tv------ it was a gsd!!! Of course it was a quick learner, geeze!
How can "professionals" be so clueless about this breed???
