Tonsilitis in Dogs???? HELP!! - Page 2

Tonsils on a dog are kind like little skin flaps.  I had a female that loved to eat prickly weeds for a while, the weed junk got stuck in ther tonsil area.  I had to have her sediated and tonsils cleaned of the debris, then a long round of Antibioitcs.  If she has some thing stuck in there the ABX won't help, the junk has to be removed.  Chewing wood and in the case of my female weeds with stickers on them can cause problems with the Tonsils.

Hi  Steph, taking a peek at the throat area is not uncommon procedure, then maybe backing it up with amoxicillin antibiotic at bedtime only for a couple of months.

I was wondering, of topic just a bit, but why was she in quarantine?
If it is a matter of vaccines, it still should not be for several months?

I've seen it once on the health boards, cleared up with amoxicillin.

If you can't find anything lodged in there, no bad teeth, etc., it might come from an infection of the lymph nodes, or maybe the nasal and/or sinus passages?  My first thought was Bartonella, common in the GSD nose, transmitted by cats, ticks, people, and probably other stuff:

GSDs also susceptible to fungal infections, wonder if there's something going on there, and that's why the antibiotics aren't completely clearing it?

Might want to follow up the antibiotics with some Oregano Oil?
