Tonsils on a dog are kind like little skin flaps. I had a female that loved to eat prickly weeds for a while, the weed junk got stuck in ther tonsil area. I had to have her sediated and tonsils cleaned of the debris, then a long round of Antibioitcs. If she has some thing stuck in there the ABX won't help, the junk has to be removed. Chewing wood and in the case of my female weeds with stickers on them can cause problems with the Tonsils.

If it is a matter of vaccines, it still should not be for several months?
Interesting on the tonsilits. Learn something every day!

Sorry Guys and Gals,
Was on the road all day to day, picking up 3 more rescues....then SHIT, one guy changed his mind, and now I have to go alL the way back the exact same place I was today, 3 HOURS ONE WAY, to adopt the same dog to a different guy...OOOOOHHHH people piss me off...anyhow...
I will send the gal this link for her to follow up on, and see how Amber is doing, and I can't remember why she was in quarantine, somewhere in Texas, coming from Europe??? Will have to get the story again and then post it, but it probably won't be till at least Monday...

If you can't find anything lodged in there, no bad teeth, etc., it might come from an infection of the lymph nodes, or maybe the nasal and/or sinus passages? My first thought was Bartonella, common in the GSD nose, transmitted by cats, ticks, people, and probably other stuff:

GSDs also susceptible to fungal infections, wonder if there's something going on there, and that's why the antibiotics aren't completely clearing it?
Might want to follow up the antibiotics with some Oregano Oil?
