Good work on the 1-2's. The dogs got tested much more so than the 3 dogs hands down. Decent pressure on the drives and you managed to actually make the escape bite an escape bite.

True the 3 dogs got the same treatment but that doesn't excuse the work. At the very least the front half helper could actually wear the required equipment that is mandated in every trial. WTH is with this circle drive crap?  Come on people this was a National event....expect better.

Ibso52,
I just watched the videos you posted and you did an outstanding job!  Excellent work, especially in the rain.  Great speed on the escapes, great drives and awesome catches on the long bite. Way to go, you did a great job.

from what I hear, the front half helper for the IPO3's  is a really good training helper and trainer.  He has represented the US in the worlds and has helped get others to the worlds as well, proof is in the pudding & you can't argue that, but from what I saw, and I was there, his "trial work" was not national level work.  The helper working the 1's and 2's should have definitely been working the 3's.  In my opinion, choosing helpers for the 3's prior to a National event WITHOUT TRYOUTS should not be permitted.  Also, the judging in tracking and protection.....well thats a whole nother story....lets just say Santa Clause came early to Plant City, Florida for some.

If you want to see an example of "great" work, or at least very consistent very safe work, watch a video of the work that James Laney and Doug Wendling did at the 2002 USCA Nationals.  They worked 140 SchHIII dogs and the last were worked with the fairness and consistency of the first.  Not even going to mention an opinion about the people that think the AWMA work was excellent.  Watch the videos and compare, 140 dogs people, in 3 1/2 days.  Enough said.

"140 dogs people, in 3 1/2 days."

Anyone who doesn't think that's a lot of work ought to catch a few dogs sometime.

Just looked at the video of the 1's and 2's and I have to agree, that was very nice consistent work.  Excellent work Joe.  Why were you not selected to do the 3's?  I guess all of those footwork drills you did over the years sure helps on the SchH field.  Are SchH helpers eligible to compete on Dancing With the Stars?

Stay healthy, hope to see you doing more events in the future.

"by workingdawg - maybe you should have tried out "

there were no tryouts
