Debi -- question:  why are you giving your dog Rawhide bones.   It is my understanding that a dog should never be given rawhide. ??   Just curious.

Red Sable,

How many Loonies did that squawky chicken cost?

And of course, is it a Purdue Chicken?

Happy New Year!

First wanted to kill them then just laughed and thought well we were needing a new one, some times your dogs give you a reason to shop was hoping to get a norther year out of it though, guess not now.

MaggieMae,

I started giving her rawhide to give her something to do when she can't play outside and I want some quiet time.   She's kinda funny about it because she spends a great deal of time just gnawing at it unlike our other GSD who inhaled them.  Echo is not the type to gulp it down, she likes to bite it into tiny pieces.  Sometimes she doesn't even swallow the pieces.  When she succeeds in pulling a knot off the bone she often ignores it and continues chewing the shaft.  She is an extreme chewer and this entertains her for hours.  If she bites off a big piece that I don't want her to swallow I throw it away.  I watch her very closely when she is working on one.  She doesn't get one every day and she isn't allowed to work on it until it is gone.  If I notice her going at it a little too vigorously I take it and put it up.  I hope my explanation satisfies your curiousity.

Cee,

Too Funny!!  Have Jami or Sabin discovered how to get the squeekers out yet?  I have to take the snake away and put it up or she will completely destroy it in a matter of minutes.  She takes great pride in bringing me the little squeeker pockets so I can replace the squeekers.  Good thing they come with extras!!  By the way, my sisters old Boxer was named Sabin, same as our grandpa's brother.  Small world, eh?

IanZane,

Ouch!  Glad you were able to laugh about it.  It must have been quite a shock!  I keep hoping Echo will destroy ours but so far she has not been destructive of anything other than what we give her.  When she was very small she did a number on the wooden rocking chair and the springy door stop and the carpet but thank goodness she is past that now...I think.  We leave her loose in the house whenever we go someplace.  Durn couch is always in one piece when we get home.

Happy New Year everyone!

Nothing beats the look on a young boy's face when he gets a gift that could potentially put sombody's eye out.

LOL, so true!  You sound like a great dad!  Nice red sable btw, redder than mine!  Handsome boy.

My brother bought his son a jackknife when he was about 11 yrs old.  He was very excited, and opened it in the truck, while they were driving and did end up sticking it in his eye, right in the pupil.       He only has peripheral vision in that eye now.

Happy New Year to you to Ninja!   That squawky chicken just about broke the bank,

I had to look up purdue, and guess what, I still don't know what it means!

Steph,

Too funny about the drunk.  Ya gotta love a dog that's all business and no warning.  Love the pic of the dog coming over the gate.  Really adds to the sign, eh?  What are we going to do with you?  I certainly hope the new year gives you the break you so deserve!
