Service dog training question - Page 2

Along with other issues, my son is legally blind.  We have had discussions with his school team about a seeing eye dog.  He's too young yet, as most programs for people with vision impairment start at age 17 and up.  You're  right - the process is very long and expensive.  There are far more people who need dogs than there are appropriate dogs available.  I know he's not ready to take on the responsibility of managing a dog on his own, so I'm mainly looking to train our girl to help in one particular situation.
