Hello everyone, Just wanted to introduce myself and my main man Duke, he's 18 months now and I just found his puppy packet that I put up so I wouldn't lose it during the move, that was 11 months ago! Anyway along with his akc registration I also have the pedigrees from both dam and sire I was curious to see if anyonecould give me some insight to his breeding? I've owned and raised labs for the last 15 years and after my last male passed and I no longer have a duck hunting lease I decided to get a gsd and I couldn't be happier! From what I've found in the data base here it looks like his dams side has more Czech and his sires side i'm still trying to figure out. These are pics of him and the pedigrees. ThankS For Any help!

Your male is the result of "European breeding" -
on the sire´s side a lot of Czech, West and East German working line dogs
on the dam´s side 50 % Czech working lines, and 50 % West German show line dogs.
Interesting combo - a lot of good working dogs in the 3.+ generation.
Kind regards

BTW, does he puppy-sit like that most of the time?

Edit: Actually, I can't recall the last time I saw her sit this way, so maybe I'm referencing old memories.

Well, I went back thrusome pics I had and seems like sometimes he will sit that way sometimes not, is this something I should be correcting?

Here's another where he has his rear end underneath him.

Among many other things, could also have been a sign of an early warning for HD. She's also way taller & heavier than the Standard, despite being slim like a model. That I think nowadays is the norm, rather than exception.
So, cleared that doubt..

No harm to find out if sitting square is causing any discomfort, and if so, WHY ?
