Question about leads - Page 1

Just a quick question.  Looking at all weather long lines for tracking (SAR work).  So many lengths and widths.  What would be a good width and length for tracking and long line work?  I want something strong but not a lot of weight.  Same with any ideas for harnesses, light weight, preferably all weather, comfortable.  All my old gear for training and such is long gone (long story involving an ex with his own GSDs) so I am in the process of replacing everything.  I have to do this slowly (every few paychecks lol) and want to go about it the right way with minimum equipment that is multipurpose.  Thank you in advance.

Also any ideas for good quality elevated beds and ramps into the back of a Honda Pilot.

I really like these Bio-thane long lines for all weather tracking. They are strong but soft, they do not tangle easily and after done using them, really easy to roll back up and hang off my crate doors.

My go-to person when comes to all things tracking [well, not just tracking, but ESPECIALLY tracking] is Julia Priest; like Cutaway, Julia swears by the Bio-thane long lines, and the leads as well. I've got one of the Bio-thane lines and I have to admit, it was the suppleness of the line that sold me on it, before I even knew what it was made of...the 'hand' of it is like nothing else. Not cheap, granted, so always keep it out of the reach of dogs that chew equipment...but soooo worth the price.

I'm in the minority. I hate biothane. It's slippery when wet, unforgiving on hands in the cold.

I actually prefer a soft tubular nylon. I make my own for agitation, but they're really multipurpose.

heheheheh, something i have not experienced in Phoenix. Well that and I wear gloves when tracking, dont like dirty hands LOL
