Critique - 16 Weeks - Page 1

Cute happy pup but sure not the right age to critique. They always show so many faults at this age that they may well outgrow.

Posting them now would just make you feel like you have a bad dog when you may not.

I dunna know, I really like what I see.

 

Pasterns are a bit weak but should come up with time;  possibly put his front feet back a tich more??  Pic's a bit dark, is this a male??  Very nice whatever he/she is.   BOL  Nan

Slightly stretched, strong head, level and short withers, slightly long back, short and slightly steep croup, slightly high tailset, nice tail, very good rear angulation, long hocks, good underline, needs more fore chest development, shoulder could use more angle, very good length of front upper arm, shoulder blade is forward placed (should have more lay back). Very good straight front legs but slightly soft pasterns. Good feet. Nice boy

Do not kneel behind your puppy while standing him if you

are wearing a dark shirt, that 'loses' his topline.

Seriously, though, he is very young and I do not think one should

offer a critique on the strength of a still photo at any age ...

but   FWIW  I agree with the others.   Maybe the pasterns are a

bit too sloped, but not that badly and they could well tighten as he

grows and exercises.  He still has a lot of knuckle, so that is accentuated.

Ibrahim has a point about the angulations and forechest, but he is still

growing and will no doubt change a bit yet.   

He seems very promising, from a conformational point of view.  I don't

think he's all that 'stretched' either, I like his topline and proportions.

All in all a good looking pup.  Very best of luck with him.

16 weeks - right now for a showline person it´s a keeper. Hopefully he doesn´t become too big. Good luck!

I'm not planning on showing him or anything like that. He's just a companion pet, I just do stacking for fun.

Going by that photo, you stack your dog better than many who

send pics to PDB and say they do want to Show and breed !

Although the remark about the T shirt was genuine, and I'd watch

that arm down his rear end, it detracts from display of his croup

and tail set.   With that ability, and compliments to the photographer

helping you, and that pedigree, I don't know why you say you don't

want to Show ...

If he was mine, all things and tests turning out equal,  I'd be Showing

him.  SV, not AKC.  This is the time to start thinking about it, rather than

leaving it until he is much older, because you have time to put in some

sound training, both in Ringcraft and in the beginnings of Obedience etc

for his BH.  It would be a shame not to let him realise any potential  as a

good all-round working and conformation contender.  GSDs were never

meant to be " just companion / pets ".  The breed needs 'things to do'.

Won't you reconsider ?

PS  I usually never encourage people through PDB to get into Showing;

making an exception in your case, chloster !

I have to agree with Hundmutter, it would be a shame not to show this beautiful dog! From my experience the flaws are still gonna balance out as he matures.

I`d really like to see pics of him at an older age.
