102 degrees
cloudy skies
Any one who traversed the Tappan Zee bridge twice in 12 hours should get a back rub. If you have a bridge crossing that deserves a back rub, please fill out our form, and we will make it happen.
Thanks.

I've never understood the fascination with hot tubs. Butt stew. No thanks.

LOL, my stepmom is like that, too. Scared of germs. Ours is connected to the pool so it is always as clean as the pool. My DH does not do backrubs, much to my dismay. I like a hot bubbly with a cool glass, under the stars to ease those tired muscles. You can sit at the bistro table though, if you like.

Sounds good! You have a nice place to call home Bee. :)
Speaking of butt stew, thought this was cute.

Bee is the Tappan Zee the bridge the one with metal groves you can see down thru on?
by beetree on 03 June 2012 - 16:06
No, Ninja, but I know what bridge YOU are talking about! They finally replaced that bridge on I95 ... right about where you can see Sikorsky's Helicopters. That was the most nerve wracking bridge of all time I think! It made this awful noise to drive over it, too. That one crossed the Housatonic River.
The Tappan Zee bridge crosses the Hudson River in NY. The same river that hero pilot landed his airplane on. I'm not a big fan of bridges, I like to stay nice and safe on the inside, and far away from any big trucks. I also finally got my eyes tested and while the Dr. said I am legal to drive in my state, he would not recommend it. So I am going to be wearing glasses pretty soon, not in time for the other night though, when it was pouring rain at 10 pm and I couldn't see a damn thing. My youngest (we went to a swim meet of course!) was the navigator because I can't read the signs. I've been faking it for so long in CT, but only because I already know what all the signs say. Then I had to get up at 5 am so I could take the big kid to swim by 7 am., back to the same pool.
Red Sable, thanks, we like it, and it is best shared with friends, I think.
Enjoy. Oh, and that is a very funny cartoon, LOL

Bee,
The reason I asked about that bridge is, years ago I bought a motorcycle from a dealer in Mineola (Long Island) NY. I sent them the money, they sent the certificate of origin. I registered it, had my plates etc. It was early March, a Friday and Sat was supposed to be decent in the 50s.
So late Friday night I took a bus into the Port Authority in NY, walked down to Grand Central Station and took the train out to Mineola. I was headed back home about 9:30 in the morning on my new bike. It was only 40 degrees out and shortly after I left it started pouring cats & dogs. I remember going across that stupid grated bridge at 70 with trailer trucks on both sides and 30' behind me in the pouring rain, freezing my butt off. When you looked down you could see the water below. It wasn't a very pleasant experience. Even though I still had about a 3 hour ride it was easy compared to the ride over that bridge.
I didn't remember the name of that bridge but I will never forget the trip across it.
Thank God they replaced it.

Yes, that's the bridge. I made a mistake though, it is not on I95 but rather Rte 15, or the Merritt Parkway. We always called it "The Sikorsky Bridge". But I guess the new bridge is now called, "The Igor Sikorsky Memorial Bridge." No, I don't imagine any one can forget crossing that bridge in wet weather. You'd just feel the wheels start to s l i d e sideways. The new one is unremarkable, and that is probably a good thing! Oh, and I NEVER looked down! Funny I can "hear" that sound in my head, now, when driving across it, white knuckles gripping the wheel just waiting to get to the other side, alive!
