This country's foundation includes a separation of church and state. I do not expect the government or mass media to raise my kids for me. People shouldn't have children if they aren't willing to take time with them. If you have a problem with evolution being taught in a public school, there is no reason why you can't take the time to explain things to them the way you see fit. As far as extremists in society, no one should bring harm to another in any way shape or form. I don't in any way condone the behavior of those who become known today as "extremists". I will say, that if you lack the conviction to die for your what you believe, it's not worth believing in.

Moons, what's so wrong with them teaching about creation in the schools? The thing I don't get, is how people who believe what the bible says.....aren't allowed to be offended by anything others might say against it, or how people who don't believe what the bible says can talk against it all day.......but someone who believes the bible mentions something about creation or scriptures and it's just considered not politically correct. Aside from that, the founding fathers of this country had a strong belief in God, not to mention.....I don't know if you've seen the quote going around on facebook that George Washington said....It is impossible to rightly govern a country without God and the bible. I'm just curious though, why do people get so offended about the bible, and why do they try so hard to disprove it? And please, don't get me wrong on this....I understand that often times people who claim to be Christians, or even some Christians in general don't go about teaching the scriptures the right way. Some can be down right hateful or rude in how they present things, and how they come across (when they shouldn't be doing that)...

Religious instruction, theory, and beliefs belong in the church, children's religious activities are the responsibility of their parents, not the government and certainly not to be taught in the public schools.
You see there are more religious views besides your own to consider, including the lack of.
Die for what you believe Carlin?
What about killing, same beliefs, it's as old as time.

Thanks Moons for your input on my questions. I don't have time to put much of a response, but I appreciate you being civil in your comment back to me....even though we might not agree.

At least in the west, life becomes a more sterile shade of grey year by year. Can't hardly believe the sheeple mentality at this point. Who can really say for sure, but if there's nothing in your life worth dying for, how much substance can there be to really live for. Perceived value I suppose.

I think Moons would die for family.
It is ideology that sucks up so many lives.
Science just makes us bear witness,
Just like the Bible, we wonder what it means.

Carlin,
there are many reasons to live, and ways to die.
There is only one reason to kill.
Religious differences is not the one, yet it happened and still happens today.
If you can't believe the mentality you see then your not really looking.
You better believe it.

People are killed daily, many people. Most of the time the only ones you here about are the stories that are profitable; sick. Haiti - it was en vogue for a while, and it made us feel so good about ourselves for about 5 minutes to come on television. The living conditions there remain horrific. I don't have any more use for religion than I do politics. The talk of creationism vs evolution is silly to and speaks more I'd fear and arrogance than anything else. I did not always believe what I do. I remember vividly not believing in anything. That didn't change because someone was able to prove to me the existence of God. I don't fear or deny scientific fact. I don't have to have all the answers. Who am I to qualify or quantify the mechanisms by which God created the universe, evolution or otherwise. While I believe the bible is the inerrant, impaired Word of God, I don't think that it contains all there is to God. By the same token, to try to refute God because our little piss-ant civilization discovers string theory doesn't prove to me that string theory has no author; arrogance. In the scope of things, even our greatest scientific achievements whether it be the shuttle or the Hadron Collider are so insignificant in time and will not be remembered. I rather like how the movie "Contact" puts some I'd this in perspective.

Carlin,
The movie Contact puts it all in perspective for you?
Please..............you didn't just say that.
That's about as lame as Shtal's (his god is god) from the Ten Commandments, at least he posted a video.
I personally liked the movie Constantine, so what.
You believe whatever you like, just don't try to force it on our children in a public school, don't use public money to fund it, and don't go around telling people who are different that they are evil spawn of satan on their way to hell.
And go out and do some good for someone, practice what you preach, otherwise the words mean nothing.
