Re the point Nan raised: surely owners of those dogs which are diagnosed early in their lives with heart murmurs or other cardiac deficiencies would have been routinely warned by vets that there is a problem with 'kibble only' diets in their case, or in more recent times not to feed 'grain only' foods because the condition would have worsened (even before this taurine-content research came up) ? I have never heard of any vet giving such guidance - maybe someone who has direct experience or vet practice knowledge [ Hexe ?] could comment ?
