I think the only difference is the size of the blade but I'm not sure. Mine is about 3- 4". I think you might just be putting too much pressure on the tool and a smaller blade may tend to collect the undercoat faster than a wider one. Yur dog/s must have really nice thick undercoats. Blitz would never survive tending sheep during a German winter .

We use the yellow one, which is the big one and it works just fine. Yes, after we are done they look "stripped" but that is only temporary. With other brushes and undercoat rakes, we would brush them and a few hours later, they would look like "plugged chickens" again. With the furminator, we do not need to brush them so often and for so long. Right now in the summer time, the dogs do not seem to mind being "stripped" at all. What they do mind though, is standing still for so long, especially the young ones. Maybe, I should add that we only use the furminator when we want to take all their hair out as quick as possible, not for daily brushing. I am taking the furminator with me to Germany as a gift because a friend of mine wants one. And no! I am not getting paid for advertising, lol.
