What's the safest way to make money transfers - Page 1

If your buying a dog from another country how can you protect yourself or be safe with the money transfer? If you send it from your bank to the persons bank account can you have the money held until the dog comes to you and u are sure everything is good. I would like to know what others do to be safe and not lose money and get no dog back or the wrong dog. Thanks!

When I bought my GS from Germany last year, I used my bank to tranfer the money to the breeders account. It's a very safe and convenient way to transfer funds, but that does not guarantee you anything else! It took me 6 months of reasearch to find a good breeder, and it worked out well for me! I have a great male GS who just turned 1 yr old, and comes from excellent V & VA parents. I have recently reserved a female pup that will be ready to ship by Sept from the same breeder. It's still a risk when you buy a puppy sight unseen, but if you take your time and do your homework you should be OK. Good luck...

Buy from someone you can trust whether from overseas or someone you know who imports. I have very few people I will buy from. I'm sure there are good ones out there, but the 4 I use I've done business with before and they're pretty well known and wouldn't want anything bad going against them.

If you ahve a good relation with your Bank manager and your Bank has international branches then you can use a retainer concept whereby the Bank acts as the broker (for a small fee) and drafts out and agreement between you and the seller The money gets transferred into the Banks own account and once the Buyer gives a green signal that the deal is clean the money gets transferred to the sellers account You need to find more details from your Bank if they can provide such a service

I don't think he said Germany, he just mentioned, "another country". Might be Japan!
