Question: I have a 12 week old purebread Malinois and he only weighs 13lbs. He looked pretty skinny when I got him about 2 weeks ago but I'm feeding him well. Mom is a retired police veteran imported from Belgium. She's about 60lbs and the sire is thin but 72lbs. The sire is only 1.5 years old. My vet said my puppy will only grow to 30-35lbs. Is this possible for a malinois? He was the last puppy left so most likely the runt. Shouldn't he have caught up by now? Is it possible to have a 35lb purebread Malinois?

Anything is possible, well feed it and if thyroid is ok and organs are ok, no worms are present, or some bacterial problem like giardia, and dwarfism has not been diagnosed then I guess he is just a small dude.

I think he would grow up to look cute :)
Yeah he might be small but big things come in small packages...
would love to see some photo's of him

Pharaoh

When I brought home Pharaoh, everyone said he would be small.  He did not have big feet and his face was petite.  He was proportioned very much like an adult and not very puppy looking.

When I went to Washington to bring him home I got to see and pick up his brother.  I was standing with the two solid black males, one in each arm.

His brother was a lot heavier.  It was shocking, but Pharaoh was my boy.

He just kept growing and his feet and his face got larger with the rest of him.

Pharaoh is at 4 1/2 a very muscular 97 lb male.  You never can tell.

One pup in our litter was born half the weight of the others.

By 7 weeks he was 75% of their weight, and now at 1 year he is within normal range for a GSD, and possibly the best potential PPD of the litter!
