personally I wouldn't give a dog free to someone who specifically stated that they were looking for a free dog, it just shows that they really can't afford to take care of it.

After you have moved to Iowa check with the local rescue groups there. The dogs won't be free but you should be able to adopt one for less than $300. Anyone who really cares about their dog will likely not just give it away to stranger.

You want a free one "if" you can afford to take care of one? Am I reading that correct?..........Oh boy.......here we go again......

If you can afford only "free" GSD - trust me - you cannot afford him. Small breed like Chihuahua would be a better choice - smaller food bills.
I think that this forum is a not a good place to ask such a question, there are too many GSDs being abandoned by owners because they 'cannot afford them'...

I'd like a nice 4-5 yo old male, hips and elbows good, good with other dogs, and has good defense drive but not outwardly aggressive, black sable, good pedigree for free.
I know.... when hell freezes over

Bhaugh,
You forgot to add that the dog should be fully trained, VA rated, etc...

Oh I can do the training but the VA rating would be nice. I pray every night for God to land that dog on my doorstep........I'm still waiting lol!
