Hi All

For my German Shepherd !!

Can anyone please point me in the right direction please, I live in Basingstoke, Hampshire United Kingdom and am looking to connect with a Shutzhund club or trainer with a good track record. Seems like most clubs are hundreds of miles away from where i stay.

All your help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Chris

I wish I could help but I can only add that I have the same problem in Gloucester. We're on a little island you'd think there would be something closer to everywhere! I'm going to have to drive to Wales or Avon.

Oh dear.  I fell foul of the lack of reachable Clubs in the south of England when I was wanting to do BH with my dog, we are talking about 5 years ago.  BAGSDS and the League fell over themselves to reassure me it would all get improved on soon, when I exposed the difficulty through the Breed Council national Magazine.  Sad to see its still a problem.

You could talk to the British Schutzhund Association, if that still exists (Videx, anyone ? Do others in UK know ?)

There  ARE some clubs around, by the way, but they all seem to be oversubscribed - too many people wanting to do it (which is good) but it means they don't advertise their presence much.
So unless you get to know someone who is already a member and can introduce you ... and even then, not all areas are covered. Better if you live north of the Midlands, more GSD clubs, more working clubs, more overlap, easier to hear about them ... perhaps you should move, already, Magdalenasins !
Since there is still overlap between the Show scene and people working their dogs, the more Breed
and Regional Shows (don't bother with all-breed Championship societies shows for this, so much)
either of you can get to, to spectate & chat to people, the more leads you should get on what's in your reach.
