I posted the following message on 10th August, there were no replies! - Intrigued now to know if this is because there are no UK folk on this board with an interest in the field of obedience training - OR - was my Post unfortunately overlooked or missed for some reason? Message read as follows - Not necessarily for 'Competition'! But wondered how many folk were from the UK and belonged to a dog training club and enjoyed obedience training? What kind of training do you do and what is your Club and Trainer like? Do you feel you and your dog are progressing? Would just like to hear from any UK Owners and or Trainers. Regards, Vixen

Hi Vixen, I train 2 of my dogs with my local BAGSD group, doing both basic training and agility. I don't have enough time to get seriously stuck in to obedience; for me it is more for the pleasure of having responsive dogs that I can happily trust. I am not into the competition side of things (so far anyway!) but I must admit that I really like watching a good dog ENJOYING being worked properly. Although there are a few of us Brits on this board we are well and truly outnumbered!

Hello Sox, Nearly missed your reply! Thanks for responding. I do wholeheartedly agree that good obedience from our dogs makes living with them so rewarding for both owner and dog - afterall dogs want/need a Leader! Working with our dogs really helps develop a strong bond of interaction. It is however surprising how many handlers merely 'practice' instead of 'train'! They just go through the motions of an exercise without reading the dog and recognising how to improve and progress. I have in years past participated in Agility, but I have always preferred the field of Obedience and found it very enlightening and exciting. Glad to hear that there are other Brits here too!! All the best, Vixen
