Does anyone know anything about enzyme deficiency that will cause lack of strong appetite. I have a three year old male who is working hard twice a day but still showing no real drive for the ration... Any feedback would be much appreciated. PS he's been eating Flint river ranch/raw diet... Tried supplement with different foods etc. Appetite just seems to come and go.

It is probably internal parisites. Give him panacur for worms and giardia. You could also try albon for cocidia. Otherwise, he just may not have a strong food drive.

I would put some apple cider vinegar and salmon oil on his food. And if he still has not a good appetite, I would try making a bit of gravy to put on it, or mixing in a bit of cottage cheese. These remedies generally help with a picky eater.

And try giving him vitamin B complex too, that often helps stimulate appetite. Give it before and after the parasite treatment, about a teaspoon of the syrup in each meal.

If it is truly an enzyme defiencey use a quarter raw pigs pancrease in his food at night.. Liver problems are also on the increase, in GSD's the pigs pancrease would help with this to..they sometimes eat than don't, would have loose dark green/black tar stools, periodic vomiting, not easily picked up by blood tests either, and more than often people think it is coccydia or giardia. A nutrient defiencey would require a different approach, this would require a tonic...found in most vet's outlets, and I would agree vit B does help boost the appetite.. Do hope this helps..
