Maybe I was the only one that got caught with my pants down but why did they run females then males in every class then when it got to the 12-18 mo. class males went first. My handler was in the female ring doing a stand exam when the males were getting ready to go. I couldn't believe my ears or eyes when I tried to explain the situation to the Judge (Scheerer). He basicly told me too bad "we go now". The 12-18 mo. males had done two laps before my dog got in for a very brief stand exam. I have been to 5 Sieger shows and this is certainly a first. I am not "connected" but my dog deserves a fair shake especially after traveling 1400 miles to be there. To top it off the dog went from VP5 in Carson City to G1 last week. Connecticut Anyone?

i empathise with you -- i think you left out for those visiting this site ... the amount of time ,taining/conditioning , coordination in your life , financial investment ..and what it took to have a female GSD that could even be qualified to show in that show --- a thousand times i mention the hypocrisy in the showline GSD -- shame on that judge ..and he ought to be ashamed if that is what did occur .. why not have the others wait their turn and why not be consistent with all the male/female classes in oreder ?? but you watch .. this comment will quickly dssapear from this site --- as with all my oithers -- oh by the way when i have something positive to say -- i say it too

OG Wesconn will be hosting the show here in Connecticut this coming Spring (2006). The USA's Breed Advisory Committee has voted on the judges and the slate includes very popular and fair judges. Everyone will have a fair chance and the schedule will be posted and followed very closely to assure that you are not rushed through your individual exam as mentioned above. Hotel rooms are going fast. If you have questions about travel or the easiest ways to get here, the host hotel, or whatever, please feel free to contact me. We look forward to seeing you. JOHN

There was a flip plop and you had to be right there to catch it. Apparently the judge of the working males finished his working male stand for exams as the females were still being critiqued. The 12 to 18 male class could start sooner than the females. So it did. I was fortunate enough to just be ringside and catch the drift of what was going on so it didn't affect me. I did not hear an announcement that the order was changed. Maybe I missed it. I'm sure this would have helped the situation. John, When will the judges be announced for the USA show?

by wilhendorf on 25 October 2005 - 20:10

Randy: The USA's Breed Advisory Committee has selected Mr. Lothar Quoll to judge males and Mr Henning Setzer to judge the females. USA Judge and National Breed Warden Karen Macintyre will also judge some classes. Ricardo Carbajal will judge some puppy classes and kennel groups. Anyone uncertain about Karen's judging need only to look at how closely her judging of the USA's Jugend Class females parallelled the WDA's Junghund Class females. They are nearly identical. If I can help anyone out there with details about the show, just let me know. JOHN

I should add that the WDA Sieger Show Junghund Class was judged by none other than Herr Leonhard Schweikert.

Kevin, I can tell you that you will see this happening more and more as the entries in our Sieger Shows will grow. There is simply not enough time to wait until the judge in one class is done. You and others will need to get used to the idea that the judging of different classes under different judges will go on at the same time. Otherwise, we will need to cut out some classes completely, like the Untitled (USA has done that already), the 4-6 month puppy, the 6-9 month puppy, and maybe the Veterans as well. How else will you accommodate growing entries in the other classes? I don't see any other solution but to have the judging going on at the same time, and maybe even have a third ring eventually. One thing to make it a bit easier for owners/handlers of multiple entries would be not to worry about catalog order at the standing exam and the bitework for the working classes. You would have a "card" for your dog, on which each judge would mark off the item he judged, i.e. bitework or standing exam, just like they do in Germany. Any other ideas, anybody? Chris

I thought the NASS show schedule worked well. If the protection had started on time the Male/Female youth class reversal would not have occured in the interest of time. Another alternative would have been to do female protection, then male. This would have kept the youth classes female then male as was on the schedule. This should not be a problem if two different fields are used for the protection work as was done this year. all in all a well run and organized show.
