I have no problem with a guarantee stating that you get another pup {either free or discounted) if yours fails to live a full healthy life due to a GENETIC defect but I will not support any breeder who requires you to give the dog back. It takes a person only a few minutes to love their dog and noone with half a heart could ever give up a loved family member which is how I see my pets. I think the dog needs to be checked by a vet other than the owner's or breeder's normal vet (to prevent biased exams) to determine whether it really is genetic or if it was abuse. Personally if the problem with the dog is caused by the new owners well then it sucks to be you. You don't deserve the dog anyway. I have no problem either with not getting a guarantee but I would certainly like to see the kennel personally or have someone I trust check it out first. Granted these opinions are for pet quality dogs. When selecting your breeding dog you should have been looking alot closer to begin with since you should know what a good breed representitive looks like and again, it sucks to be you.

The part in the guarantee where you have to return the dog to the breeder is the catch. They know that no one will want to give the dog back so thus no gaurantee. Pet stores use this gimmick all the time banking on the fact that no one will return the dog. I do breeding from time to time and have to do the guarantee thing to stay competitive. people will over pay just to have that piece of paper. In my guarantee, If it is confirmed that there is a genetic fault, I require the dog to be spade or nuetered. I don't want it back what would I do with it. They keep it and I offer a second puppy of equal breeding. So far have not had anyone needing to take me up on the guarantee
