Ive been reading different ways to treat mange on dogs, but I'm afraid if my dog's immune system won't accept it. We've tried Ivomec, revolution, antibiotics, and he's worse! The vet just gave me mitaban so that I can bathe him once a week, but he has open wounds that are bleeding, and he's not looking so well. I don't know what to do!!! Can some one please advise me as to what will work...I live in PR and we don't have Borax on the island. What else can I use? Will he resist any chemicals on his body? Help!!! I don't want to put him down. He's a stray, and only six months old. He's a cute puppy...

You need to do the dip NOW in order to control the mite ,if you question your vet go find another but the dip is standard treatment along with ivomec but you need to make sure you pup is not of collie breed ivomec is deadly to that breed. You will be doing this dip a least 1 per week.Becareful not to get in his eyes or mouth you should use rubber gloves also.Your pup needs relief from that mite.

Seeing that you have used Revolution  with out side effects, your dog should be okay on this treatment.

DAY 1 -1/10 th of a cc for every 10 lbs of ivomec orally.
Day 2  the same
Day 3 the same
day 4 the same
day 5 the same
miss day 6 and 7
day 8 the same as day 1-5
skip day 9, 10,11
after this once a week for a month.
I treated a friends  5 month dog this way,it cured him and has been mite free for over a year now.
Make sure your dog gets a good high protien diet to help his immune system.
Id like to add that my friend had over 1200 dollar vet bill to try to get rid of it with no success.
The treatment that we used cost, ivomec 50 cc 18 dollars,12 needles to  remove the ivomec from the bottle  6 dollars.
 I hope this helps

Sound like a secondary bacterial infection, he may need antibiotics too. Keflex is generally the drug of choice and you should be able to get that in PR.
