Birdy

by Birdy on 27 December 2004 - 02:12

I just want to express my sorrow for any of you who were affected by the tragic tsunami. I came ashore in southern India and killed thousands of people. I'm very sorry for your loss, such a sad thing to happen to anyone. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you. Birdy...

by HOWDEDO on 27 December 2004 - 03:12

much appreciated, birdy. After an agonising wait, we just got word that my parents and some close relations are safe. It seems dead bodies were floating along the beach. waves were 35 feet high. Folks, please do pray for them.

My father-in-law was on an ONGC Dredge Ship off the coast of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh which was one of the worst affected areas. All of us had a very tense time and were praying for his safety. Thanks to God we just got a call from him that he is safe Thank you everyone for praying for the people of India and and the affected regions of South Asia. The danger is not yet gone, after shocks are expected. GOD HELP US!!!

I had one of my Engineers at a site near Chirala on the Andhra Pradesh Coast. He had gone to study the coastline and give a proposal to prevent land erosion by the sea waves. we were in jitters for almost 18hrs till we heard from him that he is safe. Another cousin was in Colombo with his family for a holiday. Heard from him too that he is safe. On the Marina beach in Chennai(MADRAS)morning walkers were caught unawares when 38 feet waves just rose from the sea to take them away. There was literally 0 reaction time. Families waited for their loved ones to return from their morning walk and when they did not they really did not take it very seriously till they saw the TV and heard the reports. Then there was a mad scramble to contact some of them on mobile phones- only not to get any respose. Lets all pray for the departed souls. This is one of nature's most angry moments.

I work for an oil exploration company & I have my boys deployed in the Bay of Bengal at Paradip(Orissa offshore) & Kakinada (Andhra offshore). People in both work sites were unaffected.I have another bunch of guys deployed in South Sumatra and have got a confirmation that they are safe. However one expat who has a home in Phuket has rushed home to asses the damage to his property. Has been a scary sunday indeed.

Thankyou Sunshine for the concern, I am really touched I can understand what Mathaus and GSDrcool underwent My cousin who's in the Navy has been flown to Andaman and Nicobar Islands for the rescue operation. Today morning there was another quake measuring 6.0 on the richter scale in the Islands. We are all praying for his safety. Hope the Nature's fury will subside before more damage is caused, Already the toll is in excess of 15000(accounted) This the most unimagined and tragic ending for an otherwise good year
