'....and we are completely depraved ( yes from birth) ....justice demands our depravity be punished." Well, if that's true, then why are women who kill their kids by strapping them in the van and driving them into a lake prosecuted instead of rewarded? Oh, because Jesus fixed our depravity. Its no wonder people are murdered in the name of religion. Everyone thinks their's is correct and all others need to be killed for having a different belief......what a mess.

No, the mess is the brainwashing that takes place in religion. Our maker wants us to love ourselves and others, the rest is all a man made mess. Simple and easy.

Explain how if a God made earth that it is billions of years old but the bible isn't. Explain it. Explain no mention of dinosaurs. And please don't tell me like Shtal did that the bible mentions dragons, does the bible mention flying dragons? What about sea dragons any mention in the bible about sea dragons? Any mention of man eating dinosaurs? The reason none of these things are mentioned is because dinosaurs were extinct when man wrote the bible and they didn't even know these creatures once existed on the face of the earth but a God sure would have known if they existed. Why, if Noah was instructed to save the animals he didn't save any of these dragons and where are the dragons now?

Religion is a hoax to control; people, money and power.

Ruger, what my question was, is this (at its most basic):

If you believe god makes everything happen, and things happen on some desire of god's (not humans),

because all the people are 'depraved' from the outset, can you explain what you reckon god is acheiving

by encouraging, rather than DIScouraging, those depravities?

For example, in telling people they should rape and murder ?

And ... what do we humans get out of being told by god to do such things ?  Apart from being made 'worse' than we

would be anyway ?

This would seem to fly in the face of Shtal's insistence that it is god who dictates morality to humans.  Unless he really

is arguing that it is fine to act in an immoral way,  [ i.e. the opposite of good and god-fearing behaviour, according to many

teachings of both Testaments,] as people reportedly were so ordered by god at other times.

Here is one for you to explain. If marijuana was placed here by a maker and we have been given receptors in our brain for cannabis then why does religion shun marijuana? Why does the religious right fight so hard to keep marijuana illegal when it was placed here in its natural form by your God?

There is no way a loving caring God could do the things the bible claims. So, if it is true that God can flood the earth and kill every living thing and YOU still worship him then why not worship a mother who drowns all her children for religious reasons (because God told her to do it), ya know in that loving way that only a God could kill everything in sight would do.

God is not about death and destruction.

Gsdadmin, who are you directing your above questions to? Because if its me, you're preaching to the choir, pun intended. I think that religion as described here is the root of all evil on every continent on earth. I came to that conclusion when I was a kid forced to go to catholic Sunday school and I was a victem of the nuns' lack of tolerance of questions from innocent child. I tried to picture in my mind how Jesus went to heaven? asking if he flew, you know, like the seagulls and pellecans do. My answer was several whacks on my outstretched palm with a wooden ruler, causing red welts. I thought right then that the whole thing must be a lie because I my question invoked anger instead of the wierdos answering it. Too creepy for a kid to accept the hypocracy. That was my indoctrination to the not so loving, not so understanding catholic religion.

Gsdadmin, who is the YOU inyur above post who "still worships him? It sure as heck isn't me. I've seen too many whacked out people on the news murdering their kids in the name of their god to be sucked into that propaganda. Yes, of course its brainwashing, no different than any other cult that convinces it's followers to commit horrific crimes against kids.

My comments are for Ruger1, Red Sable, gouda and Shtal or anyone who knows the answers to these questions. Some of my comments are just statements not really directed at any one person.

The problem is not just Catholic in nature, it is about control, mostly.

For Pete's sake the earth is billions of years old but you have these people trying to happily make out to be a few thousand years old because it fits in with their beliefs.

Remember it is all about love, not lies and manipulations.

Oh, if you sin you are going to hell, sounds like the sky is failing syndrome.

I call hogwash. Simple love is all that is needed.  Very true.  :)

joanro ~~ to answer your question directed at me. It's simple really ~ God is holy; we are.not. As depraved people we have no right to bring judgement against another depraved person. Only God being perfect has the authority to bring judgement ,,,

by joanro on 05 September 2014 - 17:09

Control is definitely the goal. One dare not EVER question the doctrine of despots. That makes them very angry. They have no answers to your questions.
