Chaz Reinhold

I'm sitting here arguing with someone that is a "religious" person. I'm of the belief that being gay isn't a choice. My "religious" friend seems to think you just decide to be gay.

Your thoughts?

Hello there Chaz,,,Your religious friend is right ;)

I think sexuality can be imprinted in many circumstances. If the imprinting is not your choosing, then it would not be a choice. Other instances could involve fetal brain sex abnormalities, and that might seem to take away choice as well.

ask him how many girlfriends/wife or children jesus had, 12 disciples all men, seems a bit not straight.

Ask you friend when he chose to be heterosexual, that should settle the question.

Chaz - ask your pal "Even if true it's some sort of choice,  WHY DOES THAT MATTER ?"

by beetree on 19 August 2014 - 09:08

It matters because if in being gay one has no choice, we then have research that shows it has a presence of what, ten percent of the population? It is instead and now presented as an equal proposition, or a fifty percent choice to youth. If the theory of sexual imprinting is true, well, who is making the choice for whom? Why do you think sexual molestation of children is so heinous? It usually warps healthy ideas of sexuality. Let us not confuse love with sex, at the moment, for this discussion. If being gay truly is a fifty percent choice, as in the question implied about what "matters", then the fact our bodies offer no choice at all in the matter, really makes no sense. As a parent, I want to help my child make sense of the world.
