Once is awhile I see  working shepards that show extreme dog aggression, ideally for me I like to see a dogs aggression neutral in other words I dont want to see a dog flip on its back submissive to every dog or pup that approches it, but I do not like to see the ones that will pick a fight with most other males or females, pups or otherwise. What I,m looking for is comments for certain working bloodlines or well known working studs or well known females that seem to have a higher tendancy than others to throw extreme dog aggression.Comments can be either current, recent,or older bloodlines or dogs known for such.

This female i owned from puppy till she passed away hated any thing with a uterious! or smaller then her. But she could catch birds in bush,s and the yard like a cat.

Holly is a dominate female in my home she is okay with males and puppies as long as they give her the respect that she feels she deserves. But is very female aggressive.

My Fiest is very good with other dogs male or female.

Just the experience I have with my own dogs.

By the way, it is SHEPHERD...not Shepard... one of my pet peves...

I had a male from Tiekerhook lines that was very neutral with other dogs.... he did however have handler aggression.. I have seen several dogs from the Tiekerhook lines that are dog aggressive.. male and/or female aggressive.

I will elaborate more when I get home from work..

Dog agression is not a working line tendancy.

There was a pretty public incident where the eventual Sieger went after another dog at the USCA sieger show a few years back.  It happens on both sides of the divide.

Yes, it's ShepHERDS, dominANT, etc. I'm with Jyl, lol.

I think far too much dog aggression is tolerated, even bragged about, on both sides. It's a trait I find not only useless, but detrimental to working qualities overall, and for my own breedings, I will not use a dog who is dog aggressive. IMO, truly solid, sound, strong dogs do not have an inborn need to kill everything that crosses their path. All too often, I see it perpetuated by ego- ie, my dog is so tough it will kill another...blah blah blah. Not a natural or desirable trait imo.

some dog aggression can be tolerated if it's trainable.

If it is directed at a puppy however then the aggressor is not breed worthy.

Jyl, is handler = owner ? if yes then handler agression is a negative trait, right?

by bzcz on 28 August 2014 - 21:08

Ibrahim,

Some handler aggression is ok.

Thanks for all coments, and thanks for correcting  my spelling (  JYL  ) i,m very poor at it, I,m like jenn I see no use for extreme dog aggression,i would rather deal with a little handler aggression than breaking up a dog fight,I had a female once close line bred  on a Tom leefdaalhof  that was extreme could not tolerate  almost any other female  she even went after young eight week old pups to my surprise once,I could never break her no matter how hard i tryed, she was fine with people loved almost anyone and seemed normal in  other ways, I,ve also heard of dog aggression out of Karn fegalhof so I guess you never know when it can pop up.

I,m fine with high prey drive, hunting for a man wearing a sleeve or without, hunting for a ball ,frezbe ,duck, rabbit, rodent, varmit, etc is great,,I just have a problem with they start hunting each other or a pup or a small poodle.
