I have two leashes which I bought from Ray Allen company. They are nice leashes. One is a heavy duty leather one and the other is a Ram Tech lead. However, I've had issues with both of the snap clips releasing somehow??  They are standard clips, not the quick release ones. Not sure why this has happened. Anyway, can someone recommend a leash that has a safer clip on it? I really want a heavy duty leather leash, but all the ones I have found have those snap clips. Anyone know of another clip style out there that's safer?? Thanks!!

for leather leashes you'll be pressed to beat lds, http://www.ldsleather.com/leashes.html, with a lock jaw snap, http://www.ldsleather.com/snapstyles.html  \. of course, you could just buy the lock jaw snap and (have it) put it on your current leash.

Hello,
I had heard good things about this company's leashes so I placed an order for one or two of their best leash configurations I worked with the owner in "designing" the leash(s). After several months of waiting I sent emails and made phone calls to find out what was going on with my order. . It was extremely difficult to get them to respond.  At first they were checking to see what happened, then they said they were shipped, then more excuses of why they were not shipped. So, I would recommend that anyone looking for a quality leash  STAY AWAY from this company.

Bebo:

Thank you for the link! Those are some great leashes I will agree. I also liked your idea of finding a clip I like and just using my existing leash. I may use a military style D-ring with safety cover.
Gsdchs: That sounds terrible! I've only placed afew orders with them but haven't had any issues. However, the snaps on both my leashes isn't what it should be.

I'll co-sign on the bronze lock-jaw snaps as far as security is concerned--it stays locked when you set that lock; downside is if you want to be able to get the leash off quickly, that same lock mechanism will slow you down.  I bought several of these snaps about 10 years ago and put them on a few of my leashes and tabs myself, and they've held up well to mud, snow, and cow manure.

I get the ones from Bridgeport K9.... love those leashes, so soft and nice on your hands!!!! The clip is brass, and I've never had an issue with it coming off before.

My husband loves his leash from Dragon Dreams Leather. He has a five foot one in jacaranda/black with a brass ring on the handle- it's strong, flexible, and gorgeous. He wishes that I had ordered one sooner for him.

Thank you to everyone for the information on the leashes! I have decided to use my leather leashes, cut off the snaps, and use a military style repelling clip. It has a part that screws down over the opening and this makes it impossible to have a snap open by accident. That is the problem I'm had with both my other leashes.  The clips are also rated for climbing, so it will be enough to handle my 70lb Mal without an issue. Thank you again!!
