with me it is just a matter of respect.  I always am going to respect someone more or value their opinion more if they are using their right name.  I mean what would be the need to hide behind a false name?  I'm not ashamed of who I am or what I am, my history, or at what level of education with the dogs.  I usually am more brutally honest about myself  and my knowledge level then others are.  I might seem hard on myself at times but mainly because I don't want to seem egotistical and a liar.  So I don't feel I have anything to hide.  The things I don't want to talk about, I simply don't talk about them and don't allow myself to be baited into those conversations that I feel are going to get me riled up to the point of acting in a way that either I will later regret or look stupid.  (now if I have had a bit to much bourbon all bets are off.  LOL)

I tried it here but people eventually guessed which I guess in my eyes is worse than the alternative. Maybe I will have to give it another shot but tell who I am up front. I really don't see how that will make much difference but might be worth a try.

Reggie,

I took a poll of the admins here and not one I can remember was willing to use their real names. So, it might be a good way for you guys to all of a sudden not have any admins here. IDK

Maybe it will slow down accusations a bit anyway.  This place has lost so many good knowledgeable people it would be nice to do anything to try to boost it back up.  I know of many good breeders and others in the dog world who just won't post here anymore because so many hiding behind names and using it as a chance to bash.  Everyone follows by example.  Kind of hard to recommend something if the top aren't willing to do so also.

well that sure wouldn't be my intent.  Nothing to gain by admins leaving either.  I think this board is a good thing.  I just would like to see it up to its potential.  With so many looking to other avenues I would just hate to see this board die away.  I already notice no one uses chat at all any more.  The same thing has been on there for weeks.  No one has even wiped it clean.  Just sad.

I would probably step aside if it came down to admins using their real names. And the real problem here would be people using fake names to do the same thing and the only way you are going to do it, is charge a small fee to be a member. But here is the catch with that, pre-paid Visa cards are everywhere and all a person would have to do is buy one of them and use it to pay for membership and use a fake name of course so it really gets you nowhere except less members, because lets face it some good members want to remain anonymous. One way it might be possible is to use verified paypal accounts to do it. Can you see how this would limit the amount of people here, also? IDK the answers and those answers aren't really for me to deal with. Oli makes all the calls here. I think I once suggested it to him and he wasn't interested at that point in time. He has said he might be willing to make a members only forum that would require real names and there would be a yearly fee similar to workingdog site.

Tell me a way to absolutely verify who a member is and I might consider taking it to Oli. Plus that verification would cost money to perform so what price would you be willing to pay for a site like that?

As Far as I know, we all know who each other are... I have no way to hide who I am...most all breeders and trainers and all members of our clubs all know each other is...I see no one hiding behind a name...

I feel it is not fair for some 5 former members to be hiding their names as ADMIN and make rules to make us use credit cards with out names or tell who we all are...IT is no secret who anyone here is..I have met tons of people in police depts on my trip who said they would join except the bashing is horrible ..from people of no names who admins the site...so if you were known maybe the respect would be better.   JMO

I cannot tell of anyone who is not known  but one, and of course , I imagine the other admin had names but Oli thinks it is not business minded to have their identity knowb?  , and since none of us know who the others are, have no clue .but they must all be members.

WE all have known former ADMINS by name  as they had no reason to hide their names..THEY were long time contributors to the pdb some even born in Germany and countries of other origins.

I agree with Reggie.

I don't really get why names are so important.  If they were required, it would be different, but why should admins have to use their real names if nobody else has to?  Some have been on here for years and if they're fake, they've gone to great lenghts to disguise it, must belong to the CIA.  Some have been here for the duration and mostly through dogs and lines, everybody can figure out who they are, but it's not mandatory.  What difference does it make who's moderating, as long as the moderation is consistent and fair?
