Have you ever noticed that ads for dogs from the Countries of the ex Eastern block, their dogs are all extra perfect.
I think a lot of newbies fall for that and let the buyer beware.
That’s not to say that it doesn’t happen here in the United States with bogus cheats here and elsewhere because it does.
Just be careful... big money when it comes to GERMAN Shepherds.
When I am looking for a dog now, I usually go by word of mouth, or if a person is was still breeding, go back to that person.

Speaking of misleading ads, I have noticed puppies being touted as "imports" when the breeder says they come with AKC papers, NOT registration from the foreign country where they supposedly originate. I have bought two German dogs that came with SV pink papers, and one from Serbia with registration from his country of origin. It is pretty much up to the owner to do things like change the records in the country of origin to show a change of ownership, and then do the paperwork for AKC regs for which you need the dog's original papers and proof of this change of ownership.

The parents might be genuine imports, or they may only be from "import lines".

I am incorrect in believing that an import puppy has to literally be imported? There is no reason the breeder would withhold foreign papers AND expect a higher price unless the dogs were actually US born.

People would do well to be cognizant of this as they may mistakenly overpay for a domestically bred dog that they believe to be foreign-born.
