Hi guys! I am trying to register my puppy with AKC. How do you get Beischeinigung from the SV?? Is it a lengthy process? Thanks! Also, does a dog from Canada (CKC registered) require "foreign" registration paperwork?

They're two ways I usually do it. You can ask the previous owner of the dog to do it for you. This may be new to them as not everyone is aware the AKC requires a piece of SV paper to register. You may have to explain it to them and pay them for it as it's not usually something they do. The other way is to register your dog with USA and have them request it for you. In the past this took months. I believe they are faster now.

I bought a dog in Germany that arrived on 10/6/04. She had been bred in Germany. She whelped on 11/13/04. All the pups are sold and I still don't have papers from the SV to register the pups with AKC or the bitch. To answer your question, yes it can be a very lengthy process.

Hi Makosh It takes a German person to speed up the process and cost of about $25.00 for it if u get German help as I did on a pup the Breeder did not send along with the papers needed. AKC only wants copies from SV, and for me to get my Beischeinigung I had Gerti my German friend that took no time at all from the Breeder. I do not feel as many as I have imported that the Breeder is to send this along with other papers from Germany just an SV addition of money for them.?? Gerti when she sold one to me always had it enclosed and paid for, but she is special, get a good German Agent to assist u. Otherwise no problem with AKC for me in getting them registered long as I copied all SV things and sent in photos and fees. Good Luck

It has never taken me longer than 2 weeks to get a bescheinigung after I made the phone call to the SV and it cost around $15 bucks. When you call, if you don't speak German, ask for an English speaker. I have found them to be pretty effecient.

I've gotten them directly from the sv at the email addr. listed above. Ladies name is Sabine Lieb. You need to get a copy of your pink papers showing you as the owner, you sign as owner and the papers have to be notarized by a notary. You type a little letter stating you want a beischeinigung, put in your credit card number, exp date and name on the card and mail it to the SV. Sabine can give you the address. No need to go thru the previous owner nor USA. It costs around $25 from the SV versus the $45 or so USA charges.

As for the CKC paperwork.... Yes, AKC will require you to send in the same paperwork. The only difference is that instead of being called a "beischeinigung" you have to ask the CKC for 3 generation certivfied pedigree. Which really is the same thing as the German beischeinigung. You also have to send in a copy of the CKC registration and 2 pictures of the dog. Hope this helps.

I registered a female with the USA office and it took approximately 3 weeks to receive the beischeinigung. The cost is higher than doing it yourself but if there is an issue, they will assist you. If the issue is emergent use someone that has been thru the process. Handle it yourself when time is not as pressing. Just my 2 cents. Good Luck. Kyle
