distinct personality traits of a german shepherd ? - Page 1

What do you feel are the most interesting, unusual or suprising traits you have discovered in the gsd. Any comments or stories would be appreciated.

Giebel- to quote ERnest H Hart character "distinct personality marked by fearless and direct expression,not hostile, self-confident, with a certain aloofness that does not lend itself to immediate and indiscriminate friendships, appraochable quietly standing it's ground willingness to meet overtures,without making them, eager alert and both fit and willing to serve it's master whichever the circumstances demand" I think, I should have taken a leaf from this myself!!!

In my opinion it is their true versatility. My favorite quote is "the best at most things and second best at everything else." -Sprock. From a TDI to a PD, from a guide dog to a SchH 3, They really can do it all. Regards, Melanie

I don't think this relates to the thread, but I wanted to share this story with everyone. A few days ago a 1st time guest came to my house. He was okay with the dogs (2 GSD's) but was a bit intimidated by their size. I was with him watching TV and was throwing the ball for my girl (high drive and obsessed with her ball). I left the room for about thirty seconds and when I came back. Chili was sitting next to him on the couch intensly staring at him. He was whiter than white and shaking. He uttered "your dog is going to attack me". I said "No she's not, she's waiting for you to throw her ball!" LOL!

gsdfan- thats funny LoL, this reminds me of the time my friend came around and she happened to wear sunglasses, my dogs went balistic, the moment she took them off, they were all over her like a dose of measels..LoL what is it about sunglasses???
