medical problem can someone help - Page 1

I ahve a 2 yr old GSd . Problem is every 2 to 3 months he has a problem of passing blood with his faeces.I showed him to a vet and he gave him some medice in ( cotrim) and after using it for a day or 2 the problem goes away only to appear after 1 or 2 months . Through all this his appetite or playfulness remains fine .. is this a serious problem. He has been vaccinated against distemper.

I can't think that blood in your dogs fecal matter can be a good thing.Try another vet?What color is the blood? bright red like when you cut your finger or a blackish color?Has he been wormed recently?

I think cotrim is used for bacrerial infections..... which would make sense

There are many reasons why this can be happening...but if you have wormed him and it's not a parasite problem then you need to take him back to your vet, or find a new vet, and keep after this or you could have a serious problem in the making...Just a question...just before you notice the blood...what is happening?...I mean is he doing physical work (training) or what...sometime there can be some blood after a dog has worked hard...but it really doesn't sound like this is the problem...whenever there's blood there is a problem and if you can't figure it out you need to obtain expert help...

i would take my dog to another vet !! especially since this is a repeatative and cyclical condition. i can tell you as a doctor that even some microorganisms can be difficult to detect such as Giardia .. you have to have a good microscopic eye for diagnosis .. but there can as one previuos person stated many many reasons for blood in the stools .. for eaxmple intestinal poilyps , imtestinal ulcerations from one source or another .. any anal fistulas ?? did they check the rectal earea ?? also i assume your environment is as it should be toom .. i cannot go into 100 different diagnosis but the matter can be quite seriuos .. if the bleeding is heavy and often you don't need to see him develop anmia too . again see a qualified vet -- topdog

forget the batoon for now and get the dog healed with proper meds by a good vet to do this. many vets prescribe meds dogs do not need if u hit my site u will find i use little use of vets do my own vetting went to school and did not finish for raising my children then but i have with Dr Ron that too much meds cripple our dogs and ruin many organs. just thing about it they earn points for rimidyl that is the most deadly meds a dog can get. study and reasearch...please for the gsd
