At the January WDA Board meeting, in Executive Session, major changes were proposed for the WDA By-Laws.  I am not taking about changing a point or two or adding a new section.  Wholesale changes are being proposed covering the entire By-Law document.

It is important to note that the By-Laws CANNOT be changed without including the proposed changes on a ballot to be sent to all WDA members eligible to vote.  The changes must be approved by 2/3’s of the returned and accepted ballots.  It is my understanding that these changes were again reviewed in a closed session again at the April WDA Board meeting.  Some minor wording changes were made, but the general theme of the changes remains the same.

Some questions regarding these changes immediately jump to mind.

  1. Why have the changes only been proposed and discussed in closed sessions and not during the public portion of the Board meetings?
  2. What has prompted these changes?  Has the membership been asking for these changes?
  3. Specifically what is the benefit to the WDA to make these changes?
  4. What is the benefit to the average WDA member  if these changes are made?

If anyone would like a copy of the document to review, please PM me and I will provide you a copy.

In a nutshell here are the major changes being proposed:

  1. Removing any wording/association to the German Shepherd Dog Club of America (GSDCA).  This effectively removes any GSDCA members from the WDA Board and any association to the GSDCA.  What this does is make the WDA a totally separate stand-alone organization.
    1. As most of you are aware, the WDA only retains its’ ability to use SV Judges, have SV approved hip/elbows and SV approved Breed Surveys because of the fact that the GSDCA is a member of the WUSV, and the WDA is associated with the GSDCA.
    2. Should the WDA no longer be affiliated with the GSDCA and thus the WUSV, the ability to do anything SV related is no longer available.
    3. To keep the ability to have access to SV programs the WDA would need to become a member of the WUSV.
    4. By removing their association with the GSDCA, the WDA also loses all monetary support from the GSDCA.
  2. Another change to the By-Law is to prevent anyone who has ever been convicted of a felony from being a Board Member.
    1. This change was put in to specifically prevent a well respected member of the of the GSD community from every being able to hold any office within the organization.
    2. However, NO wording was put in place to prevent illegal aliens from hold Board positions, as is currently the case of the National Training Director, who has been in the United States illegally for more than two years.
  3. Currently the following positions of President, Treasurer, National Training Director, Directors of Regions 2,4,6,8, one elected General Director and one appointed General Director, whose terms should expire on December 31, 2015 would be extended an additional two years and these persons would serve a total of four years until December 31, 2017.
    1. What exactly is the reason for extending these persons terms for another 2 years?  Other than taking away the ability of the members to exercise their voice by electing officials of their own to represent them, there is no benefit to the members.  In fact their voice is again being taken away from running their own organization.
  4. Currently the following positions of Vice-President, Secretary, Director of Trials and Judges, Directors of Regions 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, one elcted General Director and one appointed General Director, whose terms should expire on December 31, 2014  would be extended an additional two years and these persons would serve a total of four years until December 31, 2016.
    1. Again what is the reasoning for extending these terms from 2 to 4 years?

There are also numerous other changes that members need to read and understand that are being proposed to the By-laws.  I urge all members to educate themselves about what these changes mean not only for the organization, but for all members of the WDA and the GSD community as a whole.

What a bunch of BS .. the WDA does not need the GSDCA to be a member of the WUSV .. they were members for years before any partnership with the GSDCA .. a bunch of intrigue from the USCA trying to meddle in WDA politics.  The USCA has lived for thirty years for the day that the WDA and the GSDCA will implode so that they can hold a parade and say .. see we were right.  Fewer and fewer people do IPO each year both world wide and in the USA and BS such as this is a big part of the reason why.  Of course the cheating and unsportsmanlike conduct of the USCA toward anyone not a part of their little dog clan is also a big reason and is also a reason the WUSV will never give the USCA the keys to the car because they are not safe drivers.

Bubbabooboo, I never said the WDA needs the GSDCA to be a member of the WUSV.  Currently the WDA is not a member of the WUSV.  Visit the WUSV site and you only see the GSDCA and UScA listed as WUSV members in North America.  That is not to say that the WDA cannot become a member of the WUSV, but currently they are not.

The WDA is not a member of the WUSV. They are recognized only because of there affiliation with the GSDCA. And again Bubbabooboo drags UScA into a posting that has nothing to do with them. Bubba is proof  that  a mind is a terrible thing to waist.

Pretty clear this thread has a lot to do with the USCA .. I'll wait for the real proposed bylaws changes from the WDA .. not theoretical or possible ones posted by someone quoting un-named sources.  The WDA was a member of the WUSV for years before the partnership with the GSDCA and can be again.  The WUSV ( SV ) is perfectly happy to take money from anyone who will give it to them so long as they obey the rules.  Less than a year ago the USCA was given a choice to obey the WUSV rules and constitution or the WUSV was going to give them a good switching so I have a hard time taking direction from the USCA on where the moral high ground is as that is new territory the USCA has never visited.  The scariest part of this entire discussion is that the WUSV and the SV are seen as the "good guys" in this entire discussion with the GSDCA, WDA, and USCA competing for the title of who is second least evil.  The DVG is looking better all the time to me as they seem to keep their internal politics and fighting to themselves and never seem to care what the SV, WUSV, GSDCA, WDA, or USCA are fighting about at any particular moment.  The entire premise that the SV, WUSV, GSDCA, WDA, or USCA represent or do what is best for the world wide GSD community is a huge joke as clearly the only interest any of these organizations represent is their own selfish monetary and organizational ones.

My dogs have learned to live with their shame ..I just give them another piece of chicken when they are concerned about their lack of praise and acknowledgement from McKown and that seems to ease their guilt and low self esteem.

Have you ever even titled a working dog?

Sounds/smells like the bovine excretions are flying!!     Personally, Cmandela, I would appreciate seeing a copy, although I have no doubt that you are reporting and commenting accurately.   Extending the tenure of office--usually a hallmark of bs.    BIG red flag!!

IF, and only IF, a national officer is actually in the US illegally, there are relatively  simple steps  to report that to ICE, and have him deported.  As that has apparently not been done in all the months that I have heard, I must conclude that either the illegal status was untrue, or it has been remedied in the interim.  Only a complete fool would purposely seek a high profile, knowing that his/her status was "irregular."   But, I could be wrong!! Regular Smile

Lord, I am so heartily sick of the village idiots who try to hold USCA liable  and responsible for everything from the WDA and GSDCA getting into a pissing match  over money, to their personal proctological and ED issues.   Get some Viagra and Preparation H,  and move on! Roll eyes  USCA is not the reason for your proctological issues, although you may cause a few in others yourself.   USCA has NOTHING to do with GSDCA-WDA's internal  warfare, or WDA's "cult of the personality."  No one with a functioning brain can possibly think otherwise.  Yet, I cannot help it, I feel compelled to ask:   Just HOW is this thread  ( WDA Proposed Bylaw Changes)  about USCA?

Mystere, I have just sent you a private message with a link to the document.
