I've not had the experience of shipping pups by airline before. These pups will be traveling from Tx to N.C. Can anyone give me any advice on which airlines you suggest I use and suggest I avoid? I'm looking at American Airlines. I have 2 pups traveling and would like them to share a crate. As litter mates I think this will decrease anxiety. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I've used delta and AA several times with no complaints.
Just make sure you have your paperwork together and if you are shipping 2 in one crate, right sized crate.

I have shipped several dogs and have always used Pet Aire through United Airlines.

Often the choice is narrowed down to which airline has a flight into the city/airport of destination.
The best thing to do is look for what flights from which airline provides the service to the destination.
Also, with airlines merging, there is constant change as to who even carries pets in cargo.
If you are looking to ship to Charlotte for example, your choices are very limited...Delta would be one, and United is another. American airlines and us airways merged and * I think * don't carry pets in cargo anymore.

Thank you all very much. I made some calls and Delta is who we'll be using. I can get a non-stop flight and they were very helpful explaining paperwork, crate size, etc.

Delta in Atlanta put my dog on a flight to Alabama and not Louisiana. It was a mess. They even lied saying the dog had not cleared customs and was still in Atlanta, not.

Delta incorrectly told me the hub (cargo) in DFW would be open on a Sunday, laaate, only to be informed that everyone was leaving and pup would be left in cargo, in the crate with no food/water etc... After many threats, they reluctantly agreed to keep a person there. A MESS but will never fly them Delta again. I flew pup AA out of CLT to Texas no problem 2 yrs ago, and United I've been using for tears. RDU is another possibility as its HUGE.

I had to tell buyers that if Delta was the only choice, they weren't going. 100% disaster each time I've used them.

United, OTOH, zero disasters. Ever. Everything perfect each time.
