Trailrider

What a nightmare, fingers and toes crossed for you. Sounds like your getting closer though. When I found my girl she was scared to death of people but when I yelled her name it was like a Disney movie. She was her same old self as soon as she got to me except for some quills in her foot and alot thinner.

You found his hair?  You mean like he was lying there and left hair behind?  Definitely you're closing in, then.  Hope to hear today that you found him, and if not, that you left a bunch of things out there - clothes, food...can you leave his crate?

If he is wandering around injured, people will be more likely to either call the police or animal control when they see him.

Also, and please take this into consideration: if you show his photo to everyone, great, but if you are just describing a "German Shepherd" you might want to also include shepherd/collie mix or "pointed ears" or something.  Don't take offense, but people are weird and don't know breeds. Keizer looks a little fuzzy and light colored and people often assume that's what they are.  And the object is to get him back.  I once lost a beagle for a week.  Every day as part of my search I would drive to the humane society and look through a book they kept: when people saw a lost dog and called it in, the description was written in a book to match with anybody looking for their dog. I didn't want to trust to staff missing an entry that might be helpful, so I went myself every day and asked to look at the book.  My dog was an older black, tan & white beagle.  One day I saw this entry:  "Old dog, white feet" and I just knew it was him.  And it was.  No mention of floppy ears or his very black back and sides or his tan markings, and his entire legs were white, not just his feet.  The people who'd seen him had no idea he was beagle (this was Miami - they didn't know from beagles, LOL).

Hope today's the day!

I don't have anything to say other than I hope you can find him and bring him home.

Be careful out there! Your safety is stil more important than that of your dog; please don't forget that.

You're in DAVIS???? Let me check with my husband - maybe we can come down with Brago to help. Hopefully the damn downpour we're gonna get later won't wash the scent totally away.

Tess is right, don't trust the descriptions at the animal shelters, check out all possibilities.  A friend of mine once had his champion (ASL) stud GSD run off.  (This was a long time ago, I may not have all the details right.)  He searched, called the local shelter, everything.  He'd call the shelter every day, asking if anyone had found a male GSD.  They mentioned having a female mix, and he finally went down there to check it out... yep it was his intact male purebred GSD!  I think it was just a day or two before they were going to PTS too.

Okie, that would be a  miracle for my family, keizer and me.  Even if we find that he's has passed away, it would be a relief to know what happend to him. Is Brago a real tracking dog. I have a some of keizers hair we can use for tracking, mabe he can catch the sent with. The man with the farm is the last known place keizer was at, probly the place to start. He is more than willing to let us continue searching there. Just let me know, If you cant.,thank you anyways.

I hope and pray you find him soon safe and well. It is the worst feeling to loose your dog and not know what has happened to him.
